Joe Louis vs. Wladimir Klitschko.

There's about 4 1/2" in height. Louis fought over 200. So he is big enough to combat Wlad. A great small man will often beat a good big man. You probably would've said the same about other big opponents that Louis chopped down in his day that were even heavier and some taller than Wlad or right around his height.

 

None of them had the skill of Wlad not even close actualy.

 

And Wlad doesn't have skills as good as Louis. The guy said Wlad was 8" taller.patsch

 

Ahh. Right well he is not it is 4 1/2", also prime- prime about a 60lb weight advantage. Plus the fact that Wlad has good skills. It is not like it is a Valuev, the only thing he has is he is big deal.

Also have you stood next to sombody with that sort of height and weight advantages over you? It is quite dramatic. The fact the Klitschko is a good boxer and could take away Louis's jab with his own plus the fact he dwarfs Louis, it can only lead to a win for Wlad.

 

It took Wlad twice to beat Brewster and Brewster may even be shorter than Joe Louis without near the skill. Louis fought between 197.5 and 218 when fighting for the title 4YI. 60 pounds eh?:huh Do you think Wlad weighs 260?

Also you have to look at the best Wlad and the best Louis not the worst or I could just say is Schmelling could TKO Joe then Wlad who is a significantly harder hitter would decapitate him

But you have to take the best of the two fighters. Louis would not be able to get his Jab going. Wouldn't get inside because Wlad'd jab would be a monster punch compared to what he would have been used to.

 

I dont think its impossible for Joe Lewis to win.

Given that Chris Byrd did pretty well in the recent Heavyweight division and he is a small guy, I think it is possible for Joe Louis, who is a much better fighter than Chris Byrd and close in size, to do better than Chris Byrd.

So if we see Chris Byrd getting KOed twice by Wlad yet lasting to the mid to late rounds, then theres no reason Joe Louis couldnt last until the late rounds or end of the fight.

In no way would Wlad KO him in the early rounds.

I think that like others said, Joe Louis's chin would be the biggest problem. He would probably be stopped but it isnt impossible for him to make it to the end or to capitolize on Wlad's bad stamina in the later rounds, particularly if it was a 15 round fght.

 

Wlad would KD Joe with a hard jab.

 

Jesse Willard made Jack Dempsey look like a dwarf.

 

How hard do people think Louis hit? I'm pretty sure if Chris Byrd was fighting cruiserweights and was allowed to weigh 215lbs, he would have a significant more number of KOs and wouldn't be viewed as the feather-fisted puncher he is. Maybe if Louis fought in todays division, we wouldn't see too many knockouts from him either. Just a maybe. Or look at it this way, put Wlad in a time machine and let him go back and fight 50 fights in the Cruiserweight division Louis fought in. The guy would be 50-0, maybe 49-1 because he is vulnerable at times. But very few fights, maybe 5 tops would go past 6 rounds. He would be a legendary figure today and it would be insanity to pick anyone to beat the guy.

 

Could you even fathom what a fight between Wlad and Billy Conn would look like :admin

 

Did gaining 40 pounds of fat make James Toney a better fighter? The fat *******s who now claim to be heavyweights would fall under the power of Dempsey, Louis and Marciano.

First I thought this has to be a joke...then the I am serious comment really makes me double over in laughter...Then I see klit is ahead??? and tears form in my eyes over the lack of boxing knowledge here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (I hope I emphasized this enough!!!!!!)!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I like Joe, I have him ranked ahead of Ali as the greatest heavyweight ever, but no way he beats Wlad. Wlad, as stated by others, isn't Carnera. As much as I like Joe he was stopped by Schmeling, who was a light heavy. Wladimir's jab and right hand are far too long and far too powerful for Joe. Would you pick O'neil Bell over Wlad? No, and if you saw Bell and Wlad next to each other you'd realize just how outsized Louis would be in this fight. Wlad via brutal KO.

You really have to get to Foreman before you start talking about heavies from past eras that would beat Wlad. Ali is great, but his style and lack of power are all wrong versus guys like Lewis and Klitschko. Foreman has the power to win, and some of the requisite size.
