the power of iggybutton - not having to read another insane 'fat people are better boxers' post again. ahhh....
Just like modern day chess masters cite 1890s champions as inspiration while studying their primitive games from the classic era. Of course any modern day 21 year old aspiring grand master chess player would absolutely destroy classic era chess champions -- with his eyes blindfolded. Just like modern day elite HWs would absolutely destroy classic era competition in one-sided affairs.
the power of iggybutton, part 2..... 'huge fatboys are the best boxers' theory once again dodged. watch out for the 25stone champions of the late 21st century. Pray for their heart conditions. but they'd all kill muhammed ali, even the journeymen superfat boys of that time....lol... how insane do you need to be to actually believe that crap.
What does chess have to do with boxing? An 80 year old great chess player could beat a good young chess player 10/10. Could Jake Lamotta come out of retirement and beat Martinez 10/10? I understand you're a troll now. A dumb , humour-less one at that.
Cross trainer is a fantastic poster, and I enjoy reading his posts. He does command respect. But so do a lot of other great posters on here. You could have had a serious, educated and objective debate with a lot of us. But we all lost patience with you a very long time ago.
chess has been a round for over a thousand years. Are you really claiming, without any evidence of 900 years previous, that all the chess players of the last millennium are inferior to those best ones today? really? against such vast odds of hundreds of years and with no knowledge of the bet you are making, you happily place your bet in the dark.
You have no facts and can't prove anything. You think that Patterson was a bum, Frazier wouldn't last a round with Wlad, and you think that Ali's amazing footwork of the 60's, was him running away. atsch
SRR was overrated, and the videos prove it? How often does Wlad throw double hooks and display great boxing skills? He finished Austin with a good left hook, and then stood there and hit him with another three hooks while he was covering up and going down. That's not my definition of a double hook. If Wlad is so great, and boxing has progressed, why does he favour his 1-2 then clinch? It's a joke! The HW king clinching for dear life.
They didn't build on it. Wlad is a limited, straight ahead puncher with none of the dimensions of former greats. When Lewis was faced with a fight he had that extra level and could fight in the trenches. Wlad folded like an empty purse whenever he was in a fight. He operates on a lower skill level than all that came before him. Vitali had to quit out against Byrd because he didn't know how to adapt or fight a different stlye. Mayweather had to fight 6 whole rounds against Hernandez with one hand. He had the versatility to switch stance, change the gameplan on the spot and dominated the fight. Vitali didn't know how , so said 'f uck it'.
Non HW Eddie Chambers who had no punch can take Wlad the distance and nothing man Mormeck goes 4 , but Frazier gets blown out in a round?atsch http://i.telegraph.co.uk/multimedia/archive/01600/Wladimir-Klitschko_1600362c.jpg :nut
Aquamarine, It doesn't matter what he looked like in training. It's the same with Robbo. We've seen their skills in actual fight footage. We know how skilled they were. Not the best example to use. Wlad caught Austin with a good hook, and then just carried on hitting him with it, while he was on the ropes and going down. I was thinking more of Ray Robinson/Roy Jones, throwing it in the centre of the ring, or one to the body and one to the head. That doesn't impress me at all. Very scrappy, and he was lucky against a limited fighter. Those were two good shots. Good shot, but against who? A bad miss, after the first hook, but the others were good shots. Overall, he doesn't possess a large variety of skills. His good shots are few and far between, and he favours a clinch. The only reason he gets away with it as much, is because of the subpar opposition he's normally up against. Did the Povetkin fight showcase his great skills? It was awful.
