I been watching Joe Louis all day i was not very much of a fan until today.

This man was a fighting machine.

Plus all racism he was facing and fighting in hostile Areans.

He destroyed fighters Like they were nothing.

Plus he seemed to do well vs taller fighters

I have no doubt in my mind he beats both kilts.

He was also a great combo puncher.

I hear Babe Ruth was a pretty decent baseball player.

Well, there was guy named Cassius Clay who has a pretty good argument in his own right. Couldn't really argue with either choice, depending on the criteria used.:deal

That's how I feel as well, but the more "1) Louis 2) Ali" rankings in the world, the merrier as far as I'm concerned. :D

That's both because it's my own personal ranking of them, and because the % of rankings that have them flipped the other way are weighted by far too many people who've barely even seen a complete boxing match in their life and just take "The Greatest" at his word that he was...well, The Greatest. Legend should not influence ranking.

    I have it

    1. Ali
    2. Louis
    3. Lewis

I'm eagerly awaiting the Klitschko fans arrival and inevitable claims of racism from all you white hating white guys.

Klitschko fans shouldn't even get past the velvet ropes when it comes to a "Top 3 HWOAT" discussion.

That said, Lewis' presence on yours may draw the bloodthirsty savages in.

Of course, even with them being kept out...you'll still be needing to answer to the rest of us on the inside for having Lewis above Holmes. :D

Been discussed to death no doubt on here, but I really would love to see Louis take on Wlad Klitschko. Just from a strategy, stylistic curiosity. I'd like to see how Louis would get inside.

I was waiting for a Holmes comment

    I have Holmes at 4.

Lewis (arguably I guess) emerged from a golden era of HW's as top dog. The VK fight also adds a little to his resume given his age, physical condition and VK's dominance since.

Holmes was slaughtered for fighting in what was seen as a weaker era, but the man was Champ for seven years! Dominance does not mean a weak era to me.

Lewis's resume shades it on my card, and H2H is a matchup I'd of loved to see.
