Legendary chin? Yes, Joe Louis was a legend and he did possess a chin, so I guess that makes for a "legendary chin" but a heavyweight who gets rocked by Mauriello and Conn and gets dropped by Braddock... that's not a guy who I would normally describe as possessing a "legendary chin".

You're pretty new to boxing history I take it. No offense meant. We all were at some point.

Ali has a legendary chin and has been knocked down by men who were not as good as Braddock.

Louis fought Galento, Schmeling, Baer, Carnera, Sharkey, and more. He stood toe to toe with hitters, and took their best shots.

I've seen Louis take a huge punch, and get right back into the fight countless of times.

Dude you seriously need to calm down. He's clearly not new if he joined the forum in 2010.

Louis was a far greater hwt than Foreman. Better trained, better conditioned, much quicker, vastly more skilled...far greater offense and defense. At his best Louis kos an exhausted Foreman around the 10th round. Louis outboxes George early avoiding the bigger mans blows and turns on buzz saw punches once Foreman is hurt and tired.

In the time it took you to type that Joe Louis would already have his rope on and be headed down the aisle to the post fight victory party.

This would not have been a one round type Louis victory. George WAS an ATG and Louis would have fought a cautious battle. NO he would not be stalking or attacking Foreman from the opening bell. If anyone is thinking of this scenario they don't know Joe Louis. Louis would be sidestepping, jabbing and counter punching. Once a counterpunch hurts George THEN Joe would go into attack mode. This would be a slow methodical beat down. George doing well early or at least being on even terms with Louis early. Then as George tires Louis surges. A right hand over Foremans low left hurts an obviously tired fighter. The combinations the enshew end the fight. Louis ko 10 over Foreman.

Honestly, how can you say that he had a legendary chin? He got floored so many times, and knocked out multiple times, I don't think he really had a legendary chin to be honest man. His chin to me may be a little bit better than Floyd Patterson's, but not by much. They both got knocked down a lot.

He had great recuperative ability, and he was able to come back after being stunned, but I don't think he had a great chin by any stretch of the imagination.

Some of the posts in this thread are bit ridiculous really. Louis by destruction... Louis by early KO. You'd think all the power and chin in this fight went to Louis. It seems Big George has gone down way more times than Louis. Oh wait, it's the exact OPPOSITE. Foreman wins this fight, and Louis wouldn't make the final bell.

Too many on this board have no idea of boxing or boxing history.

    Hahaha.

    Thanks for the laugh.

Louis would be lucky to see the third round with Foreman.
