George Showed he could get hit by big punches and for the most part not be bothered by them. Louis never showed he could get hit by a true 230 pound man and stand up.
That doesn't seem relevant to me, given the massive differences in the styles of Foreman and Schmeling. Schmeling was much smarter, much faster and much more accurate than Foreman. There are almost no stylistic similarities between the two of them.
I hear people talking about how many times Joe has been down but how about how many times he got up and fought on? If George puts him down it's not fight over as Joe could roar back after being dropped. Any man could win but I'm not sure a crude slugger like Foreman should be the favorite especially since Joe could counter, frustrate, and ko Foreman. Louis just has more options if "bombing away" doesn't work. I don't have a pick but I would favor Joe though it wouldn't be easy as George was no pushover. He did get hurt by lighter punchers than Louis in Holyfield, Lyle, & Ali so it wouldn't be odd to see Foreman land on the canvas and possibly not get up by the count.
Galento had a very hard left hook, it wouldn't be too far off the power of Foreman. Now let's ask what happens if Louis puts Foreman down like Ron Lyle did. I don't think Foreman is getting another 3 bites at the cherry, like he did in that fight. Imagine Louis moving in for the kill with those vicious uppercuts, hooks, and short right hands throw rapidly in combination to George's groggy jaw.
What's so amusing is that his nickname teases Marciano, who at a mere 183 lbs was probably one of the hardest P4P one-punch KO artists in boxing history, and that power was in both hands. Louis himself said that Marciano hit harder than his other opponents. Anyone who likes power should be a fan of the Rock, even if by today's standards he was a cruiserweight not a heavyweight (people today are generally bigger & heavier, it's called nutrition and progress).
This a tough fight to call. I could see both men winning. Louis is the better fighter, but Foreman has more firepower than anybody Joe ever fought, and firepower is something he could be vulnerable too. I can't call it. Itd be a damn treat to watch, though.
I pick Joe to win Too quick, and fast for Foreman By the time Foreman Hook is half way to its target, BAM, Louis overhand right to the face.
The best version of Louis rattles Foreman and stops him sooner than later, entirely based on style.. Big George never faced a puncher like Louis in terms of the full arsenal, both hands, head and body, a great uppercut, pulverizing jab and a unique fluidity to his combos. Of course, there is the big IF here... if George lands a big shot and gets Louis on a roll, it could end the other way. However, my money would be on Joe Louis.
