Louis would counter punch Foreman and combo him. If Lyle can drop Foreman, Louis would destroy him

This is quite possibly the worst argument I've ever seen on this site.

I also see Louis stopping Foreman, mainly due to the fact that styles make fights. Foreman's wide open, brutish style will get him killed against Louis

Dangerous fight for both. I can't with confidence pick a winner. If pushed, I'd go for Louis since he had less holes in his game and was more well-rounded. But make no mistake, this is a very dangerous fight for him.

i dunno, louis wasn't running and those bodyshots would take their toll.

no result would be much of a suprise (except louis getting dq'd) but i'm leaning foreman.

Louis was the Terminator against big men that could punch but left themselves wide open.

It's possible for that to happen, but Louis would have to have a good gameplan, and stick to it fanatically.
Even so (if Louis fanatically sticks to his gameplan); Louis wouldn't win 10 out of 10 fights against Foreman, or rather there wouldn't be:

I would pick Joe but Joe would know he’d been in a fight. And I don’t think Joe would bat 1.000 in a series.

Im not convinced of foremans ability to block punches down the middle at all. Especially in his first career.

Foreman KO 1 . Too big, too strong, too durable. He’d throw too many punches from a distance. Jab keeps Louis away. Rights and hooks keep coming his way. Even if Joe lands a good punch George had good punch resistance. He was only stopped once. And that through sheer exhaustion in blistering heat. And no real assistance from his corner. Do you really think Joe Louis can stand up to the sheer strength and power and pressure George puts on him. I know I’m going to get slammed for this. But George in 1. At the absolute most 2.

I can see it, but I don't feel it. Would Foreman feel he was fighting a class down and open up as he did vs. Lyle? Is that the only case study that supports this? I don't know. I can definitely see Louis landing great punches and having more accuracy/crispness but also potentially getting bombed out. I think Foreman wins.

Some bums went more than 2 rounds against Foreman, but you think Joe freakin' Louis is being knocked out in one?

When you say bums. If they are bums at least George fought them on they way up as a youngster. And on the way back as a grandpa. Not as a in his prime champion with a Bum of the Month Club. Ok he had King Roman. But the bums as you call them were when he was learning his trade. Not carving out a HOF reign.

Louis' powerful combinations and excellent jab would leave George overwhelmed in 9 at the latest.

Joe could conceivable catch a lucky shot and get dropped, but for the most part George couldn't stand up to the bombardment imo.

And this is coming from someone for whom George (along with Holmes and Ali) is part of the Trinity of Favorites.
