Missed most of the main event because I was watching the other fights and plugging results on BoxRec. And I didn’t even finish! But I’ll watch the main now.

Somebody at the GAB (or I guess it would be Elorde International Productions) is letting his 12 year old daughter curate this event's soundtrack.

Noynay is up very comfortably but Zhang is game...or at least was, early on.

It wouldn’t be too far off course for an event in the Philippines if the love songs weren’t playing during the actual round. Round 6 or whichever round that occurred was probably incredibly difficult for both boxers to focus with “love me, love me, say that you love me” blasting in the background :jaja-no:

    Round 8

Noynay is putting the left cross & uppercut behind the jab and clipping Zhang on the very tip of his punches, despite the Chinese visitor's best attempts to summon up vestiges of his earlier slickness. Noynay just patiently lining up & taking his shots now as Zhang circles wide but in predictable and slowing patterns - and down goes Zhang. He's up but foggy and Noynay returns to work post-haste. Jab & long underhanded left - Zhang rocked. Another, down again, flat on his back, all done.

    TKO8!!

Bayubay-Sumalpong on the undercard was pretty good. I totally disagree with the result and the horrible point deduction. Bayubay won that pretty clearly for me but Sumalpong was the house fighter, part of the Elorde stable.

Only the fifth KO for Jaw Breaker, although his power is probably more formidable than his 28% kayo rate suggests, given the parity in the Filipino domestic scene and how many tough nuts there are to be matched against.

He dropped Edison Berwela (en route to a wide UD12 over him), which is enough to convince me he isn't a feather-fist no matter what the cold hard numbers say.

So was Reiya Abe vs. Joe Noynay a fair decision or a legit close but clear for the home fighter as the scorecards indicate?

His other defeat looks to be a case of rotten luck, sent to a TD on a cut to his opponent with a final array of 76-75 Noynay and the mirror of that score twice for Pumicpic. His draw was also extremely narrow.

Shift a couple of points his way here and there and he's 18-0 instead of 15-2-1.

So they bumped this up and started at 4am EST instead of 6am like they originally advertised? :dunno

(that is four in the afternoon local time in Manila...with the main event wrapping up at quarter past nine)

    Why the change?

I saw it announced as starting at 3PM a few days ago so it actually started a bit late. I’m guessing since it was hosted at a mall, it needed to be all wrapped up a little bit earlier but I don’t know 100%

    Edit:
Here’s where it mentions the start time

Hm...well based on the running order pic that Elorde International Productions themselves posted on Facebook (granted, a month ago) these were my estimations:

...so I figured wading in at quarter of nine in the morning was a safe enough bet and I'd get to watch at least 4-5 matches...rather than just being luckily (or more like miraculously) barely in time for the main event. I was gobsmacked when I saw your post saying the co-main had already finished and the main was next, and panicked when I saw that almost ten minutes had already passed since then. I pulled up a fresh browser tab with the Facebook stream literally as the first round was getting underway. :scared1

Speaking of the co-main event, the result still isn't up on BoxRec yet so I'm going to watch & score without fear of spoilers. (please don't post any until I'm done!)

Um...or not, since the GAB apparently picked up their stream (after two hours of downtime) midway through round three of this one.
