Considering how fit he was at the weigh in, considering Shannon Miller is a totally legit opponent...Mesi deserves a solid TV fight.
I wouldn't say Miller is "totally legit," but he's a solid win for a guy trying to work his way up the ladder. His only previous losses were to Maddalone(in an absolute war that was back-and-forth for four rounds before Maddalone came up with a bomb in the fifth) and two undefeated prospects, and he was much more competitive with those guys than he was with Mesi. This fight is a good sign. It would be interesting to see Mesi take on a top 30-type opponent in the next few months.
well done mesi, some good fights for him next are savarese or maybe minto, both he should win and both he could sell
Yea by "totally legit" I mean a top 100-150 heavyweight who we KNOW exactly how good he is...this is someone who has shown who he can beat, who he cannot, and has never been KO'd before the 5th round before according to boxrec. I think Mesi needs a top 20 guy or at least 2 guys in the top 30 and then he DESERVES to get his title shot he was owed before his injury.
Good for Mesi, he's working his way back. I also read that he wants to fight one more time before the year's over.
Mesi's fighting opponents off the fat, white guy circuit, which afterall, is a "totally legit" circuit. Considering the fact that there are a bunch of cruiserweights who would beat Mesi he's better off fighting the guys he's fighting.
Its now time for Mesi to fight someone who is a pro boxer, at least; someone who trains and who makes a serious attempt to box as a career. LOL But seriously, Mesi must be picking this endless stream of D and C level fighters for a reason.............He's intentionally cautious about rushing too fast into too big of a step up in competition. I would say he knows he's not progressed enough to step up, yet, It does get aggrevating to see him fight tomato cans and C level fighters, one after the other, but at least he's being honset with himself about what he's ready for, and what he's not ready for. But that said, how long will it take for him to get confident enough, so he'll pick someone in the top 20? He's been at this comeback for quite some time, now, and he has only rogressed to the Shannon Miller level. LOL
