Both Joe and Chris are considered small heavyweights which makes this a good matchup. Who would have won between them?!
Who the hell considers Arreola a small heavyweight? He's 6'4" and his ideal weight is probably somewhere around 230 lbs.
Well even head to head with Wladimir Klitschko he's not that much smaller. Only 2 inches of height differencial and like I said, idealy only about 10 pounds or so difference in weight. Arreola is a big man by any standards.
Mesi is Minto with sharper, quicker, far more powerful punches. I actually think Mesi would have won.
I'd say Wlad is 6'6 1/2 and Arreola is 6'4 at best. Vitali I think is a hair or two under 6'8. The difference looked about right to me in the ring and at their press conferences (VK and CA). 6'3 seems like an average HW to me. Just because two 6'7ish guys who are related and one 7'2 Russian circus act were briefly champs at the same time doesn't make me forget that Haye, Chagaev, Ibragimov, Peter, Maskaev, Rahman, Ruiz, Holyfield, Solis, Kevin Johnson, Chambers and Povetkin are all 6'3 and below. Most of the last champs, and challengers of the four major titles and the contenders are all 6'3 and below. Arreola is not small even if he's 6'3 and not 6'4.
Mesi had very good hand and foot speed, plus he could punch a bit too. I don't know if he could have KOed Arreola though. Arreola has rocklike chins.
Yeah, he straight kayoed Williamson in round one. He could hit. I don't know if he was world class as a puncher because his level of opposition wasn't exactly telling as far as that goes, but as good a chin as Arreola has, he's been knocked down by probably lesser punchers than Mesi. He can be fairly reckless.
