What ever happened to him? The last time I seen him was in the Jirov fight.

He was supposed to fight on april fourth against Terry Smith. The fight got cancelled because he injured his shoulder during training camp, it was supposed to be on Friday Night Fights. I remember seeing him in the studio one night talking about his comeback. Now he is running for senate in New York, pretty funny stuff.

I think he'll run for Senate, lose, and then suddenly get reinterested in his boxing career.

    I'd almost bet on it.

Don't count on it. Mesi's pretty popular. He could win his race.

You may have a point. If Jesse Venture can get in the governor's mansion, and Arnold, too. Maybe Mesi has enough appeal to get a senate seat. But I am leaning towards a political loss and sudden return to boxing.

In the interview he said he would still consider fighting if elected.

Mesi's story is sad...maybe he'll have better luck in politics. I am sure I'd rather see that than another pointless one-round KO that just make him look good and keep his brain bleeding from coming back. Any top HW (I know "top" is relative here) would probably cause Mesi's death in the ring. Even a fight with Tye Fields would probably be hazardous to Joe's health.

Remember too, it's STATE senate, not federal, so the voters will all be from his area. I wouldn't be surprised if Mesi wins it, he's a bright, personable guy.

it wouldn't be sad if he becomes senator, just how many good boxers end up being senator.

God works in mysterious ways.. perhaps the brain injury was a sign for mesi

  11. Mesi is running for a senate seat in New York, as a Democrat which means he WILL most likely win, New York is a Heaven for Dems and Mesi is extremely popular in New York..:good I HOPE HE WINS..

He actually looked good in his last fight. He came out real agressive and was landing power shots. He actually looked as though he had gotten his form back, his timing and speed were finally there.

As long as he is healthy I believe he has the right to fight, but I also would hate to see him injured. He seems to be pretty intelligent, I think he will make the proper choices regarding his career.

Yeah, I knew it was state.

Maybe he can pull it off. More power to him.

I guess his opponent could use the angle of something like:

With that questionable chin he is known for, what are you gonna do if Mesi is hit in the head by a flying chair on the Senate floor? He'll be laid out and put on his his BACK.

On the other hand, a vote for me is a vote for a someone who can take a punch, or flying chair, or whatever may be hurled my way, and I will stay on my feet and keep fighting for YOUR best interest.
