Joe Parker vs Zhilei Zhang: who will win?

Parker took the money fight but Zhang will KO him faster than Joyce did

 

Parker is a live dog in this fight. 50/50 for me.

 

I fancy Parker to out point Zhang in a tough closely contested battle. Fresh off the Wilder win, training with the Fury camp, Andy Lee in the corner/training. I think Parker keeps the momentum going.
Would love to see Zhang vs Fury.

 

Well on the face of it you look what zhang did to joyce and what joyce did to parker and say its an obvious knock out win for zhang. But given that styles make fights and zhang won't put the same pressure on parker for 12 rounds it's not inconceivable that parker can be in and out like he was against wilder and nick it on points.

Its closer than people think IMO. A lovely co-main, although I'd love to have seen Wilder V Zhang and Parker V Hrgovic, I'll certainly take this.

Parker has not fought quite a technical huge punching southpaw fighter like Zhang. However, Parkers footwork could make things interesting, but I think Parker will struggle if he tries to lead and be on the front foot. Zhang wants Parker to throw first so he can counter that with his ridiculous combinations and heavy power, Zhang is so much better technically than Wilder.

If it goes to later rounds, I'd expect Parker to have more stamina and heart but I think he will have taken too much punishment early, unless he plays it smart, and ugly. And if Parker survives the early to mid onslaught and is in with a chance with the scorecards, I think Parker could take this.

My prediction is a Zhang - 7th round KO. I think Zhang will be cautious enough early on to save his stamina like he did against Joyce, and use his stamina well, and look for the counter - whilst still being on the front foot using his jab thus gaining Parker's respect early enough. Zhang has fantastic timing like we saw against Joyce, and I think Zhang will use this to his advantage and punish Parker whenever Parker throws. This trend I would expect to continue towards the mid-rounds as Zhang gets more comfortable whilst Parker takes more punishment whilst showing heart, eventually knocking Parker out with a brutal left counter.

Zhang depends too much on his power. I haven't seen much boxing skill from him.

 

Parker can absolutely win this.

I am yet to be convinced by Zhang and Parker has danced with much better fighters (albeit with some losses).

 

Zhang wins IF the Zhang looks the way he did in the Joyce fights.

Zhang looked really good in those fights but not every Zhang performance has been top notch. And he is getting older as well.

Parker got relative youth, experience, and momentum.

I am not counting out Parker.

 

Parker making a mockery out of AJ, making the more difficult fights on both cards. Shows what a ***** AJ is.

 

I’ve got Parker for the win by any means

 

Yeah Joshua's opposition since the Usyk fights has been terrible. He made is name taking risks and winning often in dramatic style but now he's become this safety first and risk adverse fighter who quite frankly no longer interest me. His last performance was at least more aggressive so I had hoped he would pick Zhang or Hrgovic for this card but with him picking Ngannou it's clear the old daring Joshua of old died in the Usyk fights.

 

Parker is a shell of himself. Beating Wilder has really turned around his career. Zhang will beat him, down, unfortunately.

 

I pick Zhang like most of you but Parker has a real chance here. Most people giving Parker zero chance are thinking of the Joyce fights, but a) styles make fights - Parker is certainly more defensively responsible than Joyce which means that it may be harder for Zhang to get the early KO; and b) Zhang has had some fairly bad off days and is getting older.
