Joe Parker vs Zhilei Zhang: who will win?

His speed and movement will prevent an early KO - and as Zhang tires, Parker will have him.

 

I feel like ol Joe Parker deserves an apology from many boxing fans for the way he’s been treated the last couple of years…myself included.

As someone who laughed in support of the nickname ‘paint dry Parker’ he’s really become a stand out in the HW division.

• Not afraid to take on significantly bigger fighters, regardless of $$$
• Had his chin cracked by Joyce in a fight many others weren’t keen to take
• Stayed active and didn’t hold out for undeserved fight opportunities
• Refined his craft and has improved his boxing IQ quite dramatically
• Will fight anyone, anywhere, anytime
• Humble and isn’t afraid to lose if there’s the opportunity to be in a big fight

Hell, do I think he’s elite? No way. The likes of an Usyk would school JP - but that doesn’t change the fact that he’s giving us big fights, fights that he’s continuously the underdog in (AJ, Joyce, Wilder, Zhang).

The divas that pad out the rankings could learn a thing or two.

Side note, I think Zhang hits a home run, one hitter quitter right hand in rounds 4-7 and KOs Joe.

 

What if Parker beats Zhang?

Will he then be "elite" in your eyes?

 

Zhang will lose by late stoppage if Parker shows up like he did against wilder. Can see Zhang gassing as his cardio isn't the best

 

Parker lands 89 punches on Wilder. Throw 255.
How this can stoppage Zhang if Hrgovic who hits harder throw almost 3 times more and land almost twice more power punches than all punches from Parker land on Wilder (168) and cant do that?

If Parker comes to Zhang fight with same level of activity and agression like in Wilder fight he will lose on points in best scenario.

Parker must show much, much more because I dont think that Zhang will land 3 punches per round...

 

I hear you but I think parker is faster than Hrgovic and will cause Zhang to miss which will cause him to gas earlier than he usually does but we will see soon enough. Either way it will be an interesting fight

Dont think You are right. Parker is not faster. And even if he is little quicker he is much smaller man. Hrgovic got reach advantage over Zhang and pretty same height
Parker got much shorter hands and he is 193 or 194 cm height.
Because of that he must come closer to reach Zhilei and that make him easier target imo.
He must be a lot quicker than Filip to make this not important.

But as You said we will see how it goes

 

Who the hell put Prker by KO? 10 fighters have gone the distance v Parker he couldn`t stop Whyte so how the hell is he going to stop Zhang, Parker has far less power than Zhang, look at how Zhang`s punches effected Joyce compared to tyhe effect Parker`s punches had on Joyce, Parker will be backing off v Zhang just like how he did v Joyce so how will he get a stoppage?

I'm leaning toward Joe & voted Parker by decision.

This sort of has a Quarry-Lyle vibe where the smaller, underdog Quarry out boxed the bigger, more powerful, but slower Lyle.
That was ~half a century ago and modern HWs Parker & Zhang are bigger men. Yet the size, relative abilities, and who's favored analogy holds.
Now can Joe pull it off?

I'm not on board the Zhang hype train. He lost to Hrgovic in a close but UD and stopped Go Slow Joe twice and he's now the second coming to some. I think Parker wins by UD or considering Zhang will be gassing Parker might stop him late on.
