Gloves aren't necessarily an advantage to a striker. Take away that padding and fighters will punch even faster, even harder and even more accurate. I would say a striker generally wants to lock up and go home as quickly as possible. Take away gloves and this desire becomes more achievable. Sure gloves offer protection but no gloves don't mean your hands will just shatter. Good technique and accurate punching will bring good results. Landing correctly i.e. hand vs chin and you will be okay for a good while. Not to mention adrenaline masking the damage until after the fight.
Note, having a guy pin or smother another guy down the whole round is bad for the sport. Back when Dan Severn layed on Royce Gracie for 40 mins the sport was not going to go mainstream because of the boring fights that nobody wanted to see.
Then bring in yellow and red cards to dock pay like they did in Pride. It's up to the opponent to change position or he is complicit in the lack of action. Note: Why when guys are running away are they not made to grapple. It favours the striker unnecessarily. Alexander against Kimbo could have been put to the ground if the rules applied to standing as well as grappling.
