Joe Savage was the bare knuckle boxing champion and he challenged Frank Bruno and Lennox Lewis. What would have happened had Frank Bruno accepted his challenge?

Seriously? Bruno would have knocked him into orbit.

Joe Savage fought Bert Cooper instead and got smacked around and finished quickly.
    It's on YouTube.

Can anybody name one of Savage's opponents in his bare knuckle exploits?

I doubt that he does much better against either than he did against Cooper.

I'm sure that they're out there, somewhere.

Bruno did lose to Smith, Witherspoon, Tyson and Lewis.

Joe Savage was a champion, too. A bareknuckle champion.

This was a comment left on the video. It should help answer your question.

This is Bert Cooper, a guy who’s been in with George Foreman, Riddick Bowe and Evander Holyfield. Against a bloke who fought Scouse Tony, Knuckles Maghee and Kismet from the kebab shop!

I heard he had a win over Tank Murdoch and a draw against Philo Beddoe.

There are people on this board that try to put the opponents of Dempsey and Jefferies on the same level as the opponents of Joe Savage.

Murdoch would have been close to Tony Galento’s level.

Beddoe had a big-time jab and great generalship for a bare-knuckle guy as well as a good set of whiskers.
