No one can make a case that Eubank was in his prime. He was 31,lost twice to Steve Collins previously, and he went onto lose to Calzaghe,Thompson 2 X

However Eubank was no shot. Eubank that fought Calzaghe was like the Larry Holmes that fought Carl Williams still very good, but no where near what he was.

What a delusional Welsh wanker :patsch

You only have to watch Eubank that fought Benn the first time and compare it to the Slappy fight to see how much he'd slipped. Eubank wasn't shot, but he wasn't prime either.

I suppose in relative terms he was prime though, as far as Slappys record is concerned Eubank was as dangerous a fight as he ever had :rofl

i agree, 2 years out of his prime whilst JC was still green and at least seven years from reaching his own, speakes volumes of JCs ability imo

Debatable how far out of his prime Eubank was. He should of lost to a journeyman Dan Schommer before the Collins fights. However it is all irrelevant imo, because Calzaghe would of beaten any version of Eubank.

Watson 2,Collins laid the blue print for how to beat Eubank. Put the pressure on him, and make him fight at your pace not his own.

Always a silly english herbet bringing the welsh thing into it....:-(
Eubank wasnt prime but he was still dangerous & a good scalp. Its amazing how much ****ing hate there is for JC.....Seriously WHO should Joe should have fought because the Hopkins & Jones's of the time didnt want a bar of him , The man suffered because he was'nt enough of a reward to to take the risk on at the time.....when he finally becomes the draw that U.S. want ($$$$) he beats two young hungry & unbeaten fighters ( The yank especially touted as the next big thing) & then faces the proscpect of having no one to ****ing face !!!!! ...... He takes on Bhop & wins because of course Hop was well past it - Yeh because he looked **** against Pavlik didnt he..????......****ing behave haters its boring

I was at ringside,we bought tickets for Collins v Joe.When Collins pulled out a well past his best Eubank stepped in and put on a very decent showing and i was grateful to him.It was a good fight and though Joe is talking rubbish saying it was a prime Eubank,he still did very well in his first title fight.Eubank was far more expirenced and even at that stage of his career was a true world class fighter, not a prime Eubank but a good win for Calzaghe, and im normally one of the first to critisise him.

I dont like Calzaghe, but i wouldn't hate on him without applying commonsense. Eubank being past has best is balanced up by how green Calzaghe was so.......

Its like people who say Tyson was past his best when he fought Holyfield. Holyfield was 34 when he beat Tyson, and he had been in wars with Stewart 1,Bowe 1/2/3,Cooper,Qawi 1,Dokes, and he had been in though fights with Mercer,Moorer aswell.
