I was ringside for that fight as well but i gave him the benefit of the doubt in only his 6th fight and with a large amount of ring rust. He is a massive 154 pounder and I think he has an eye on middleweight where there are also plenty of fights to be made.
I'm a big fan of Selkirk, he was a quality amateur and looks like an extremely well balanced fighter. Look forward to seeing more from Joe. :rasta
Love his style, it reminds me slightly of De La Hoya the way he throw his shots. Not that I am comparing his talent to that of Oscar's or anything.
yes it was close i think joe will do good things as will omera who i saw box at york hall recently against aa lowe he looket very good i like both of them classy boxers
Very frustrating situation you could have Selkirk, Fielding McNally Harkin Farrag Satchell J Quigley Vaughan Liam Smith Anthony Smith Paul Butler any mixture of these fighters could put on a show every month along with a few other fighters and draw 1000 in Liverpool. All of these fighters are accessible to Frank ******. Thats without even naming Bellew the other two Smith brothers and Derry who are the biggest draws in Liverpool. Instead they languish in inactivity :-(
u left out the best prospect in my eyes there of them of jazza dickens! but i agree liverpools a gotbed at the min for boxing been 4 or 5 nights in the olympia since january... and im lookin forward to derry v jenko next week in greenbank sports centre back on topic about selkirk i rate him very highly needs to be more active but the last year or so it hasent been down to him its fwrank w@rrens fault he only really looks after his big named fighters and is only interested shows like the Magnificent 7 ect those type of shows people like liam smith and joe aint getting on a bill
Forgot about Jazza atsch Another top prospect that lad and being in the lower weight divisions could get oppotunities very soon if he comes on well Thats the thing mate about people like Selkirk Smith etc they aren't high on ******s list of priorities they aren't making him big money. They would be better off I think with Maloney or Hatton who would push them but for obvious reasons that isn't going to happen.
[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5-vcNzyUzfs"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5-vcNzyUzfs[/ame] heres the video of the fight, its a bit premature but I think he was catching him quite a lot just before it was stopped so its quite fair in my opinion
Carruthers was hurt from the knockdown and yes a bit early but it was only going one way and Carruthers certainly wasn't making any complaints :yep
jazzas fighting on derrys undercard he was supposed to fight on the scott quigg bill on sat but opted to fight local hatton promotions let him
Ye I was there also Harkin went life and death with him and I thought he was lucky to get a draw in all honesty.
