I'll preface this with: 1.) I'm American 2.) I don't like Joe Calzaghe Hearing the name "Dawson" thrown around after this fight is just plain ridiculous. I only saw one more fight for Joe and that was Pavlik. We all know what happened there. So what...? Joe fights Dawson; Pavlik wipes the canvas with Rubio prior. Let's say Joe beats Dawson, guess what...? Oh Joe, you have to fight Pavlik now to cement your legacy. It's stupid. Let it go. The man is special, most Americans (me included) didn't know about him until Jeff Lacy which is a shame. It would have been nice to put him in the mix years ago. Oh well.

lol do u guys watch boxing... just cuz hopkins beat pavlik does not mean that calzaghe would... calzaghe would be an easier target for pavlik because he likes to come in and mix more punches..... styles makes fights fools.... dont u remember that taylor got beat by pavlik.. but beat hopkins but hopkins soundly beat pavlik... idiots... dont talk boxing unless u know boxing.... calzaghe's style is better suited for pavliks come ahead volume punching style then hopkins style was... pavlik would have a much better showing against calzaghe... possibly putting him on the canvas... but probably not beating him.. but it would be interesting to see because kelly pavlik has alot more stamina then aged hopkins and roy... dont get it twisted 6 years ago these fights between hopkins and roy may have been the death of calzaghe especially the hopkins fight... a man 7 years older then calzaghe took him to a close split decision.. what do u think would have happened in their primes when hopkins could sustain an aggressive output and not worry about stamina issues.... idiots ifu dont know boxing dont talk it
Calzaghe should resist all temptations to "fight one more time" no matter who or for what reason and just walk away while he's on top. Like Rocky Marciano, Gene Tunney and Carlos Monzon did, he should be smart enough to leave the game while undefeated as champion and NOT come back.
Joe Calzaghe defeated in Mikkel Kessler a better fighter with more sophistication and all around skill than Kelly Pavlik, and I've posted that very same opinion way before Kelly was whipped by Bernard Hopkins. If Calzaghe fought Pavlik, he would figure him out virtually from the outset much like Hopkins did and outclass him for a decision. This styles make fights thing is true enough, but there's nothing that Pavlik could bring to the table to rival Calzaghe that Kessler wasn't capable of.
