If they can hit you, he will destroy you... They have lots of problems against good boxers. Good former champs tho. Love the bruisers
Nah. Pavlik a level or two above Smith, and much harder to beat within his actual division then Smith is.
Poor comparison, Pavlik had some good boxing skills ,while I love ole Joe he is and was an over achiever with good power and strength. His loss to Zurdo displayed that . All he did was come forward throwing one big shot at a time, and against a good boxer that's a recipe for losing.
Smith is nothing like Pavlik. Pavlik had a very good jab a laser like right hand and very good fundamentals. Pavlik was considered the best Middleweight in the world for a good few years. Apart from them both being white theres absolutely no similarities at all Pavlik is a level above Smith.
This. As I mentioned on an earlier thread, Pavlik lost to a current HOFer and a future HOFer, and suddenly he's a glorified club fighter. Pavlik had underrated boxing skills, subtle craft and a good understanding of what he could and couldn't do, a thudding jab that functioned as "find and fix" mechanism, and punishing power in his right hand. Of the most recent crop of middleweights, I'd only favor Canelo and GGG to beat him.
In every facet of the sport Pavlik was. Can't even compare them. The bottle destroyed Pavlik's career more than anything. Glad he's found peace on Instagram with his boxing tactics channel
Nah Pavlik had better fundamentals great jab and a better overall skill set. That being said I’d love to see Joe with a better trainer. I read up on his trainer. he has boxing experience and is from a boxing family but Joe needs a change going forward. Not saying scrap the guy, keep him on but bring in someone new. This fight is easy … prolly the worst corner advice I’ve heard in a while. I realize that’s not all he was saying but still…..
