"There was a point in the fight I went back to the corner and I said to Jerry, ‘Man, I don’t know if I’m gonna make it through this one. He’s really getting to me.’” Shocking admission and not good to put this on record when you're about to fight Wolverine...
Vlasov should have gotten the nod there, and he probably would have beaten Glowacki had the ref actually been half competent. Unfortunately he will probably never receive a third shot at a world title.
Nowhere do I hear that he wanted to quit in that, I hear fear that was going to get stopped. Which is understandable, since Vlasov was getting to him for a spell.
I interpreted it as he was unsure if he was going to be able to pull out the win. If he can gut it out for 9 or 8.5 rounds with a badly broken jaw against Barrera knowing he was going to have to go through 6-8 weeks of having his jaw wired shut for the second time, and it's meant to be extremely testing both physically and mentally, then I doubt he was thinking about quitting against Vlasov. Look at who he's fighting in just his 2nd defence - he's facing the boogeyman, someone with an absolutely fearsome reputation and not without good reason either.
