Big boy action next Saturday as Joe Smith Jr goes for his second shot at a world title against the crafty and underrated Russian contender Maxim Vlasov. The winner will become the new WBO Light Heavyweight world champion. :chuck:

I have this fight as 60/40 in favor of Smith, although a Vlasov win here wouldn't be shocking at all.

Who are YOU fellas picking? :sherlock:

Personally, I think it is 50/50. Smith has made technical strides and can bring the noise. Vlasov tangled with some good CWs. Unless he’s lost a step or 2, he’s busy enough to outwork Smtih, and tough enough to take his power, maybe.

Damned good measuring stick fight for Smtih and for Vlasov, IMO. Either way, I dig this fight alot.

Glad to see Smith hang in and keep coming and I hope he is rewarded with a title belt. I admittedly underestimated him vs Alvarez

    Excellent matchup, either might win.

But I think Joe Smith, if he fights as well as he did last time out, will emerge victorious.

I like both boxers, but I'm going to be rooting for Smith.

Smith will be able to take him out late I think, or at least hope. I'd like to see Smith get his hands on a belt.

Got my money on Smith on this one, although the WbO trinket is hardly worth finding space on the mantle for.

There seems to be a lot of hype and fanfare for this Maxim guy, and he seems to reading a lot of his own press clippings.

Smith is blue collar all the way, he isn't fed from a silver spoon by the media elites that run boxing and he certainly wont take kindly to the newest star-boy clout chasing off of his good name.

This will be a true day of reckoning for the Russian fighter

Again your casual opinion flowchart if some boxer is from EE countries.
I guess that you post stuff like this not only in this forum but in multiple forums and YT comments too.

You are mature all EE origin fighters hater in internet. forums, YT comments. This looks is like your profession for life.

Smith has made too many improvements over the years, even since that Bivol fight (that I knew he was a live dog in) he's looked a lot better. I was highly impressed with how he dismantled Hart and Alvarez. It's scary the pace he can keep up while throwing full power shots to the bell. Offensively one of the most dangerous at 175, probably second after Beterbiev in this post Krusher era.

I really like Smith. He along with Michael ''The Bounty'' Hunter Jr is a real North American fighting man in the mold of us British kings and real doesn't only recognize real it respects it. I'm a fan of the slicker than an eel in a bucket of oil Vlasov too but I'll be pulling for Smith in this one because in addition to being a certified warrior he's also great guy. But a word of warning: We can't rule out the possibility of Vlasov getting robbed because as you know robbing EE fighters across the pond is one of the favourite pastimes of their judges.

Could be a classic after this long dry spell.

I do hope the winner is clearly established at the end because both are good but I can't see Vlasov getting a close decision.

    Great fight!

Vlasov is a slippery customer and will have a size advantage but

Smith jr has picked up some momentum with those last 2 wins so I’m picking him to get the ud in a close one.
