Joe turns down Pavlik Joe will fight Jones!!!!

Joe is a victim of his own mouth. Just follow the time line.

Sept 29, 2007: Pavlik destroys Taylor while Joe looks on via sattelite. After the fight HBO interviews Calzaghe, and Calzaghe calls Pavlik out.

Nov 3, 2007: JC beats Kessler, and continues to call out Pavlik.

Before any other fights are made, and before JT says he'll excersize his rematch clause, Joe runs down to the nursing home, and picks a fight with BHop.

All through the winter and early spring, up until Arum announces the Lockett fight, JC continues to Call Pavlik out.

April 19, 2008: Calzaghe wins a split decision over BHop, proclaims himself a legend killer, and says he wants Roy Jones. He doesn't mention Pavlik.

Just prior to the Lockett fight an interviewer asks Pavlik who he wants to fight next. With no hesitation whatsoever Pavlik says "Calzaghe." In the mean time Top Rank offers Joe 10 million pounds to fight Pavlik.

June 7, 2008: Pavlik destroys Joe's stablemate, but Joe wasn't there. In the post fight press conference a reporter ask Pavlik who he wants next. Without hesitation Kelly says "Calzaghe. It's up to Arum and Duncan. If they tell me to fight Godzilla, I'll fight Godzilla."

On or about June 12-13 2008 Calzaghe tells the South Wales Argus: "A lot of people would love to see it. However, at this point, I think it's unlikely. I'm not sure if Pavlik really wants to face me at the moment."

You can interpret that any way you like, but I call it ducking, plain and simple. If it were Kelly who had been running off at the mouth, it would be different, but Joe spent at least 7 months calling Pavlik out, and all of a sudden when Kelly says yes, Joe wants to fight a has been in RJJ!

 

You got that from Calzaghe saying 'I'm not sure Pavlik wants to face me'? :?

As it's yet to be established whether Pavlik has said yes, much less the status of any negotiations, it's a bit hard to draw any firm conclusions.

Pavlik has said yes at least 3 times, and Arum said making the fight was his #1 priority, and made an offer of 10 million pounds! How many ways does a guy have to say yes?

 

So arum made an offer $20 million dollars. when?

 

Just google Pavlik or Calzaghe. the news appeared in several articles.

 

Yet to see the ten million pound offer as anything other than an internet anecdote.

 

This is bull****! I love how most JC fans are not getting on him at all.....as of right now its quite obvious that he is trying everything possible to not get in the ring with Pavlik (which is funny cause I favor Joe). He was even offered a career high payday, then says "I don't think Pavlik wants to fight me". WTF! I could come up with better BS then that!!!!!!!

 

For him to say Pavlik doesn't want the fight is about the same thing. Pavlik has said he wants to fight Joe. Joe is trying to divert attention from this by making it look like Pavlik wants no part of him. Not going to work with people that know better though. He changed managers to Palle? :huh

 

Think they measured the craters in the cranium of Lockett and were a tad put off?

In fairness, he won't KO jones.

 

This cuts both ways. If Jones beats him, his stock goes way down and we don't see a Calzaghe/Pavlik fight at all. Unless he is the one offering up 10 million pounds.

It's called 'putting your money where your mouth is'. He called out Pavlik. Put up or shut up. Non of this crap that it is PAVLIK that does't want the fight.
