Hops was about 35 when he defeated tito, who would when this match on nuetral ground??? I just cant see Joe having sucsess, and I see Hops adjusting to everything that Joe does and beating him down, just a matter of talent and styles imo...

It wouldn't be a beat down, but I don't see Hopkins losing this one.

I really dont see how, you think joe would perform better than he did against a hopkins that was 6-7 years younger and would throw that many more punches??? I dont see any logic in your argument.....

You mean if they were both younger, or that if the 35 year old version of Hopkins fighting the current version of Calzaghe? I would say BHop, but honestly that one of those what if matchups. Its like saying what if the 31 year old ODLH could fight the 31 year old FMJ. It just isnt a valid matchup. You could say that about tons of fighters, "he would have beat him if he was younger". Maybe, but he is fighting him now, and he lost

Both fighter's were passed their primes when they fought and i still think Hopkins won the fight. It was very close but Hopkin's did enough to keep a hold of his title in his own backyard imo.

With both fighter's in their primes though Hopkin's still takes it imo but it's still a very close fight.

Calzaghe would be coming of a career best win and hopkins will be 1 weight class down fighting a tito trinidad, in which was a great performance but hopkins was more use to bullying fighters where i dont think he would do against calzaghe who had to move up in weight to fight hopkins, I think calzaghe would still out work hopkins but in all fairness cant really say age hasnt been much factor for hopkins so this fight would of played out more than likely the same as the orginal!

agree that hopkins won, and imo the only reason calzaghe got the decision is that theirs more money in a calz v jones fight than hop v jones...

Well i meant if they were both 35 so i could put the actuall fight in perspective, but if u want, wat about prime for prime, just so i can observe your boxing iq...

Hopkins would win in this scenario. In some ways it would play out much like the fight they had. I think Hopkins would start off well and time Calzaghe with the right hand and win the early rounds. Calzaghe would then adapt and get back in the fight. But Hopkins had much better stamina at the age of 35 than he does now and would still have the legs to control the distance the majority of the time and win a decision.

Personally I think Calzaghe is the more naturally gifted fighter of the 2 but Hopkins is simply smarter and has the tools at 35 that he didn't have at 43 to outbox and occaisonally out fight Calzaghe when he needed to.

I honestly think that Joe would have had just as good of a chance at winning, because he always fights to the level of his competition. 43 yr old Bernard is a slow and ugly fighter and this brought out the ugliest Calzaghe performance I've ever seen. If Hopkins had fought better, so would have Joe. This one thing is for sure: It would have been a MUCH better fight!

I think prime for prime Hopkins still wins. I can't see any version of Calzaghe beating the Hopkins who dominated Glen Johnson back in 97. Hopkins was a much more agressive fighter then, had a workrate that could match Calzaghe's and was a relentless body puncher. That would be one hell of a fight, very little holding, lots of combinations, high punch output and both looking for a KO.

Hopkins would fight more than he did in the actual fight and lose more clearly.
