Joe was trying to out work Hopkins but Hopkins would pick him off with the better punches. Joe was struggling to land. All u have to do is watch joes corner every time he went back. And at the end when joe got the verdict. Enzo and joe were acting like they got away with the great bank robbery

That's the way I saw it, too. The cleaner shots coming from Hops. Joe did land a couple of times, but from what I remember, the majority of them were those annoying flurries/slaps that weren't anything significant. He and his old man were shitting it when they were waiting for the scorecards.

Calzaghe landed a lot more often than people give him credit for. When he did land Hopkins was sprawling on the ropes, holding or stopping in his tracks. When Hopkins landed with clean well delivered shots with great technique Joe just kept walking through them.

Hopkins' punches looked good but were really not that 'effective'. Joe's performance improved whilst Bernard's deteriorated.

Hopkins does that anyway - whether the opponent lands or not. He's just awkward like that. He stopped for breathers because his old body couldn't keep up to pace with a workhorse. That's all Joe did. Increase his workrate to overwhelm.

And yes, they [Hop's punches] were effective. They were point-scoring shots that would land cleanly on the button (as opposed to slaps that hit thin air, graze forheads, and tap arms/gloves). Whether the other person works through them or not, is not the be all and end all. It's like saying Cotto, in his both fights with Marg, wasn't landing any effective punches because Marg was walking through them.

I've seen Calzaghe/Hopkins in excess of 30 times. There was a point when I was watching it everyday. I've studied the rounds in detail. Calzaghe does a lot better than he's given credit for.

I give Calzaghe at least 7 rounds every time. My final score is 8-4 Calzaghe.

I re-watched this fight about a year ago and think I scored it 115-112 for Calzaghe. Hopkins just didn't throw or land with enough punches the 2nd half of the fight. I remember some of the rounds he landed the better punches but they only amounted to a couple a round whereas Calzaghe landed with less quality but with so much more and therefore deserved the round.

Anyone who thinks Hopkins won is blinded by the early KD.

After round 4 Calzaghe took Hopkins into deep water and Hopkins started faking low blows to buy rest breaks - even the ref was telling Hopkins to get on with it and cut the crap.

It was an ugly fight, and was always going to be, considering Hopkins' style is to spoil and be as economical as possible with his punch output, while Calzaghe is a whirlwind with his punch output and movement.

Hopkins was uncomfortable with the pace Calzaghe set and fought negatively for the last 6 rounds.

Calzaghe clearly won 8 rounds and deserved to get the W - Hopkins did not.

Calzaghe won that fight, Hopkins tries to steal fights with his borderline tactics. Calzaghe showed more class in and out the ring. Although Calzaghe laughed off the 'i will never lose to a white boy' crap. I don't think the media or Hopkins would have been so forgiving if Calzaghe had made such a racist statement.

I don't see how Hopkins won the fight, Joe boxed very well and threw so many punches.

Tbh Hopkins could beat him, but I really don't think his heart was in it, well that's how it seemed to me.
