Looks like he would need to work hard on conditioning to me he was blowing hard at times and taking shots he shouldn't.He looks an outstanding talent who maybe needs reminding that hard work is what matters.

agreed, he should go pro straight after the London Olympics imo. sure he could earn a million in the pro ranks by the time the next Olympics comes around
1 - He hasn't reached the top and its still a tough division 2 - He might not be able to keep the weight and might have to move up depending when on whether he has fully developed physically. Even harder division. 3 - In Ireland if you are a top amateur boxer you get paid well and your future is quite secure. Ok there might not be max earning potential like in pro but there is very little risk involved. Also there are less people to take advantage of you and less politics 4 - He can stay at home and be close to his family if he stays amateur. Just saying :yep
He looked as if he was carry a bit of weight. He wasn't as lean as Egan (no homo). Ward held his hands a bit too low at times, he needs to stop that craic. If he sorts out those things and remains 100% focused he will be unreal. Kenny Egan is a class act. The way he conducted himself in the interview after the fight, he said Ward was just too good for him. There were no shitty excuses.
What is the professional boxing scene like in Ireland? Doesn't seem to be much going on. I suppose he could always sign with McGuigan..... I'd advise him to turn pro after the Olympics. Look at Bradley Saunders, staying amateur hoping for a slot at 2012 and ended up injured, so three years hard work down the drain.
some local shows, some in Belfast but not much. without TV its hard to be financially feasible id imagine and since RTE pulled the plug on their boxing money (despite still continuing to pay a plethora of wankers megabucks) theres no regular decent sized shows.
Yeah theres **** all.. He'd be KO'ing Bulgarian bus drivers for his first 20 fights if he stayed here, thats if the show didnt fall through beforehand. The pro scene is awful. Some talented fighters who'll never get to the Olympics here because there style isnt suited for the ams, when they'd make great pros but US promoters wont see these guys unless theyre in London (e.g DO Joyce, Sutcliffe whos meant to be hanging up the gloves). Ward would have to go to the States if he was to turn pro, if he medals in London Im sure there will be promoters falling over themselves to get his signature, and get him to NY to take Duddys spot:good
