Calzaghe vs Eubank, or Reid, or Woodhall are certainly ones that I remember...

I truly don't understand the Calzaghe fanatics. He's your legend and I have no problem with that. You just can't demand that Calzaghe be given universal legendary status when he fought one boring fight in front of a typically apathetic Vegas crowd and the HBO audience.

It wasn't the type of fight that gets much attention with Americans. It was a foul filled tactical fight. The fight has gotten little play after the fact and most of the stuff of heard on mainstream media in the US has been dismissive.

Is that fair? Hell, most of the people on this site don't appreciate tactical fights and this is a community of hardcore boxing fans.

How huge is Manny Pac in the UK? How popular is Kessler or Admakek for that matter?

its a shame you cant get more than 14k fans in! Basically it all comes down to the US wanting to make tourism cash and the casinos stuffing the tourists, not the actual boxing!

you would be surprised lance at the popularity of overseas fighters in the uk after you have read a lot of the posts from my compatriots who sometimes go over the top that would contradict my statement..

take out a british fighter from the equation

just take american boxing and fighters who fight out of america for popularity and IMO the uk outside of north americak is the biggest watcher and biggest fanbase for american/mexican/canadian boxers by far from anywhere else in the world, probably by the country mile.

    before ppv ever exsisted.

before sattelitte tv and multi channels boxing was held on closed circut tv for big fights.

i went to virtually them all in the uk

going to cinemas at 12 am to 6 am in the morning to watch the big fights from america with 2 americans taking part.

not a single time was there ever a single spare seat in the cinema.

about 60% of all your fights are televised in the uk as well.

compare that to how many big european/japanese/south american fights are televised in america.

despite the rhetoric my countrymen give american boxing and boxers are well watched and supported in the uk.

**** yourself. As a Brit I find it embarrasing when all these morons say **** to the effect of ...

''If Calzaghe were American, he would be talked about as one of the top 20 all time''

And reckon he does not have to fight name opponents in their prime, because really, Bika and Reid and Veit were far harder fights, just nobody realised.

The fact of the matter is Calzaghe wont be a legend because he simply wasted his talent, spending his best years facing bums. Its only now he has finally started making a good legacy for himself, when it is too late for him to justify his great talent with a legacy to match it.

And now, when the **** who has been moaning about not being able to get the best fights out there all his career, only now, when his options are limitless, he wants to fight an old shot man because his moronic Welsh dumbass fans will lap it up and claim he was better than RJJ himself.

Calzaghe has really pissed me off by going after Jones. He knows Jones is way past it and Joe just wants the money. Pavlik, then Dawson, then retire, and he is a legend.

As it stands, he simply did not prove how good he really was. If he fights Jones then retires, I hope he is forgotten about in a month.

And of course Americans recognise legends that are not American. Lennox Lewis for example. He proved his doubters wrong by going to America, and fighting the very best throughout his career.

Calzaghe stayed at home and fought unknown bums.

I don't doubt at all they have fans there. Just as UK fighters have fans here too. This is just a bull**** 'cry me a river', Anti-American thread. The fact that Arran is posting so much should make that obvious. Hypocrites as usual...:-(

    Yeah so what?

He proved to those bitches how good he was, whether they liked it or not. Whereas Calzaghe just stayed at home, and proved **** all, until this year.
