It's a rubbish fight but if he fights Maidana after it I suppose he can be forgiven.

He should have fought Prescott though, the whole "payback" angle would sell and Khan would have shaken a ****** off his back by beating him. Much more relevant fight imo.

Are there people here giving Khan stick for this fight that said a Haye/Harrison fight would be acceptable. If so, you'd want to take a long hard look at yourselves.

Disapointed but Casa is as good a sacrifice as any I guess.

Im not trying to start an arguemnt but did you honestly see the MAB fight as 50-50 going in ? True there are some spastics on the GF who will always pick against a Brit but did anyone in their right mind truly give Barrera a shot ? Even the boxing Monthly poll had it massively in favour of Khan and they had Hatton v Pac as more or less 50 -50 !!!!!

even at that , those kind of pishy fights are more acceptable as a challenger but once you get that belt you can't keep pulling this ****.

Its sadly starting to seem the UKs only real champion fighter is the guy who just lost his belt !!!

Buzzing for this, can barely contain my excitement, roll on July!!

Casa is big, regularly fighting, young, fresh, a true light welter and will be gunning for Khan.

You do realise its IMPOSSIBLE for Khan to fight Maidana OR Bradley on 31st July??? :patsch

To be honest most of the other guys in the division wouldnt fight so soon as Khan is doing, so he deserves some credit for that least, even though the opponent choice is somewhat poor, but what did people expect for a fight this quickly after??

I actually think its no that bad a fight. Who else could they get?

Timothy Bradley - Fighting at Welterweight in July
    Devon Alexander - Fighting Kotelnik
    Marcos Maidana - Injured
    Andriy Kotelnik - Fighting Alexander
Victor Ortiz - June to soon
Juan Urango - Coming of a loss
Paul McCloskey - Fighting in June

So that leaves 4 guys as decent World ranked Light Welterweights.

    Kaizer Mabuza
    Lamont Peterson
    Demitrius Hopkins
    Ajose Oleguseun

    1) I think Casamayor beats all 4 of those
    2) Casamayor will sell more tickets than all of those
    3) Casamayor will sell more PPV's than all of those

Other than Katsidis there no bigger fight for him.

Casamayor, even now, is a better level than anyone Joe Calzaghe defended agaisnt between 2000 - 2005

The look on Frank Warrens face when this fight was foisted on him showed that he thought that MAB was a strong favourite...classic to see Frank **** himself but I think that we all knew that Khan would be too strong.

I haven't got a problem with this fight other than its going to be for Khans title...this is a keep busy affair nothing more.

Out of that list Peterson jumps out , same size , same age.

As I just posted on the GF if this was the first time I'd let it slide but this is Khans entire career. Either KOs belwo 20% or ancient and mopving up in weight.

Why is Urango not an option because he is coming off a loss? :?

Also, Prescott is a fight that makes a lot of sense financially and legacy wise. What better way for Khan to silence the critics. Prescott is dying to get back into the ring with him. That is better in every way than Cas.

    x2, ridiculous fight.

And Rob, I don't think Casamayor would beat all of those. He's done, and not a huge puncher at any weight. He'll cause Khan no problems whatsoever.

Careful Rob, if you bend over backwards anymore you'll bang your head.

The fact that Urango is coming off a loss isn't what rules him out, it's the fact that he's too dangerous.

Casamayor would not beat all those guys, not after its been 2 years since his fight with JMM. You're basing that on what exactly?

Casamayor will not sell more tickets. Even casual fans can tell when a fights a stinker. Somebody like Peterson would create a much better buzz as soon as it was announced.

And what about Cayo, or picking a mid-level guy from Welter?

I couldnt care less that Khan's having another turd of a fight, they obviously just want to get him more time to develop. But just be honest about it for god sake, he's not at the top level, so dont pretend like he is and that this is a good fight. Dont **** on my leg and tell me its raining.

You could basically say the same about Casa considering his only fight since Marquez is a decision against an absolute bum who gets ko'd all over the place.

    Prescott just stopped him.

To be honest, as **** as he is, Prescott is a more meaningful fight than this. Easy fight (again) but at least Khan would be progressing by beating him convincingly, which he would without a doubt IMO.
