The guy was called 'shot' in 2006 and then came back to win against Katsidis and then go on to fight JMM.

I'm in no way in favour of this matchup but as a stay busy fight and as me being a fan I'm not going to mind.

It's better than fighting 2 times a year than staying inactive right? Plus he can gain another camp and get some experience. The guy needs it.

Remember the words, 'Stay busy'. I'll actually promise to you right here that if the guy doesn't face Maidana in his next fight I'll be the first to criticise him. I may be a big fan but there are things he needs to start doing and when there are completely good reasons for why this matchup has come up (Not that he couldn't have fought Prescott or something but I'm sure a reason might emerge).

Good fight for Casamayor. He's badly faded, semi-retired and 39 years old but he's getting $700,000 and a chance at another title. If he loses he's old and shot, if he wins he's shocked the world.

The fact that so many are writing him off his quite amusing. Casamayor hits a lot ****ing harder than Salitia and Malignaggi. Even now, I think he's a better fighter than those two, he has more experience and big of wily southpaw veteran skills. Furthermore, I expect Casa to have the kind of motivation to train for this fight, in a way that perhaps he's lacked in the past.

As a counter puncher he's at a stylistic disadvantage, against a guy with quick hands and good in-and-out movement, so Casa can't win on points, because his stamina is about gone as well. I expect Casa will be competitive for the first few rounds until Khan establishes some kind of dominance with his jab, but don't bet against Casa being down on points going into the later stages of the fight and then scoring a brutal KO with a trademark left hook - the same punch that Corrales and JMM couldn't see or stop, the same punch that felled Katsidis.

I was just about to say a similar thing...

When the fight was announced many people were amazed that Warren was willing to throw Khan in with him. Claude Abrams, in Boxing News, even admitted in his editorial that he believed it was a "joke" when he was informed and that the fight was a big gamble...

Crap fight. We should never have our hopes up considering the timeframe to make this fight, though. Before criticising Khan's selection of opponent, people need to remember that Katsidis has been waiting almost a year for the JMM fight and won't be giving up his shot now that he's this close to it, Maidana is injured, Alexander is feeding off of Khan's scraps and Bradley is jumping to 147 for a nothing fight as well.

I can't see this being on SBO so hopefully it ends up on ITV again.

I actually think people are being a bit unfair on Khan. He's just come off a good win against Paulie, wants to do that ramadam thing, I mean fair play, religion isn't my thing, but that means he won't fight again til whenever ramdam finishes, which I smell goes on for a long time. So just to keep busy, it's a good enough fight, get some experience, he might even learn something from Casamayor.

The only thing he could learn of Casamayor is that, no matter how good you were, you can't beat Father time. Hang up those gloves before you ruin everyone's memories of you.

the boxing monthly poll had it something like 17 - 3 in Khans favour.

I personally complained long and hard about the fight on here before hand.

I guess Im the only one that knows boxing on here then.

Are you seriously asking what Casamayor's best wins are?

You like Peterson because he's 'the same age and size' as Khan. WTF does that prove? He's beaten nobody and gets ranked on the basis of winning a couple of rounds if your generous against Bradley?
