Although i think Mitchell is underrated and on the same level as Casamayor. :thinkHTH im gonna have to lean towards Casamayor just a little bit better at most things than Mitchell.
I like both guys and find this to be a very close match-up....Someone said Casa is better at most things than Mitchell, and there may be some truth to that! I just traded with a guy on here a few months back and got quite a few Mitchell fights to add to my collection, from his early days on. He is very versitile and able to adapt to his opponents style seemlessly. After his fight with McDonnell, Jim replied that Mitchell does not seem to be great at any one thing, but is good at alot and extremely versitile and that combination equaled greatness. Brian Mitchell finding the way to adapt that he always did, finds a way to take a nice UD
I was only joking with that anarci. He did look a bit hittable against the only southpaw Ive seen but he just kept a steady stream of accurate punches coming to eventually wear the guy down. Like Philly said Mitchell isnt particularly remarkable, but does a everything above average and blends it all very well. Casa impresses a lot in spurts, and can have some highlight reel moments with that left hand of his...but I really truly think he will have his hands full against a solid technician with a good workrate and a decent beard like Mitchell. Even a prime Casa, I dont know if he would be able to keep up a pace that will win him rounds convincingly because Mitchell wont sit back and study Joel, and wait to figure him out..he will get right to work and I see his style paying dividends down the track. Really a good matchup...but Im actually leaning towards Mitchell.
Check out Mitchell/Beard 1 and 2....I see it playing out something along those lines, albeit with Casa doing slightly better than Beard.......Casa takes the first 3 rounds, then Mitchell starts comin' on to take a SD (being generous to Casa).
Casa never impressed me. Not to say that Mitchell was particularly outstanding, either. But, for a boxer made to seem such a slickster (by his fans, anyway) Casa never really struck me as such. Mitchell, while unspectacular, was a very sound, very dedicated fighter fundamentally who was on a par with a guy like Greg Haugen. Honestly, Haugen was every bit as good as Casamayor and would've outworked him to a UD. What the hell am I even talking about? I'm blasted drunk. What a typical, half-assed response.
Been watching a bit more of Mitchell this week. Not whole fights, just selected highlights from fights I had already seen. Im fairly certain now he edges Casa, not by much but I dont think it would be debatable once the final bell rings.
Renofan has the best collection of Mitchell I have come across...I got them from him in a swap....lots of good Mitchell stuff out there, let me know if you are interested???
