    Hello Everyone.

With the fight between Casamayor and Juan Manuel Marquez now confirmed, can somebody tell me why Marquez doesn't win by convincing decision?

In his last outting, Joel Casamayor managed to defeat a big hitter in Michael Katsidis, an untested but hard hitting lightweight. This was a huge step up in class for Katsidis, who had previously been on the canvas against C level Graham Earl. All things considered, it's fair to say Katsidis isn't an elite level operator.

Now this is the bout that some say was the "return to form" for Joel Casamayor, but I have to strongly disagree with this testament. Firstly, Joel wasn't having it all his own way during the fight. He was down in the sixth round and arguably losing the fight up until the stoppage came. He wasn't outboxed by Katsidis, but he was having to work very hard.

Prior to his fight with Michael Katsidis, Casamayor was handed a gift in a fight that the majority agree he lost. He was outboxed by Santa Cruz, a fighter who isn't on the level of a prime Casa and certainly not a prime Juan Manuel Marquez. Are all of these indications that Joel Casamayor will be able to turn back the clock and win? I don't think so.

I've only seen him fight once, but Joel Casamyor to me is slower than Marquez and isn't as good technically. Prime Casa may have offset Marquez's underrated hand speed with his timing, but this isn't a prime fighter we are talking about. Joel Casamyor hasn't been the same for a good while, whereas Juan Manuel Marquez is looking as good as he has ever looked. It's true that he isn't fighting at his natural weight, and Casa is naturally the bigger man, but I don't see this coming into effect.

Juan Manuel Marquez is faster, fresher, and technically one of the best fighters out there today. I see him outboxing Joel Casaymor, who's only chance to win the fight would be to use spoling tactics and upset Juan Manuel's Marquez boxing. Even so, Marquez was able to work his Boxing against the awkward Manny Pacquiao, so I dont' think he'll have much trouble against Casa.

    Any opinions?

Juan Manuel should beat Casa easy. Its a gimme fight for JMM to test the waters at 135 and stay busy and pick up a bogus title while hoping that Pac will give him a rematch.

    Alot like Pac fighting Diaz.

Oh right. I've heard a few people on here say that Casa will actually win. I don't see anyway he can.

I like how Marquez has followed Manny up to lightweight. :yep

yea i like how he followed him but i don't like how JMM waited 6 months to take a gimme fight, while Pac only waited 3. If JMM was gonna take 6 months in between fights he could at least have taken a tougher fight like Juan Diaz, Joan Guzman, or Nate Campbell

You're nitpicking with that one chief. :huh

Taking on Joan Guzman as your first fight at lightweight would have been silly. He's the best in the division, in my opinion.

It'd be Guzman's first fight at lightweight too..

I'm thinking JMM might win this one, but I won't make it official yet..

    True.

Still, if Pacquiao fights Diaz, I can forgive Marquez for taking on Casamayor. We all know why Marquez followed Manny anyhow...it wasn't for Casa's title.

Indeed, but do you think GBP was already planning Casa/JMM so if JMM won, he'd get The Ring title which could bring him closer to a rematch with Pac? I'm also wondering on who Pacquiao is gonna' fight after Diaz..

    Probably.

I see both Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez being dominant forces at lightweight just as they were at super featherweight.

Bottom line is, Juan Manuel Marquez's deserves a rematch and so do the fans, because their second bout was unbelievable.
