casamayor, ud. dealt with pressure well, had pop had far better skill set, a great defence and a very solid beard. i think lockridge lets it hang out a bit too much, which i think would be perfect for a southpaw counterpuncher.
Lockridge was a good puncher... But in Casas prime he was pretty slick and had pretty good chin.. Corrales,Freitas never had him in serious trouble and both probably hit even harder than Rocky(by a little bit),also hung tough with the bigger Castillo... :think STill having a tough time with this one.. For the most part Lockridge always came in ready, but i also remember his slack effort vs a washed up Gomez.. Although i thought he won like most did, he let Gomez outhustle him to make it close, that version gets outboxed by Casamayor. But i might give the edge to the Rocky that hung tough with Chavez. Or the Rocky that arguably deserved the decision(1st fight) over slicker and better boxer Eusebio Pedroza, although Rocky was at Fw for that fight and seemed a little slower at Jl, when he moved up he change more into a slugger/boxer at JL.... Lopez outboxed him but i wont count that as Lockridge was on the way out. All i know is this would be a very close fight, one where there would have to be a rematch,,, That would go the distance.. For the exception of the Laporte Ko loss, Rocky had an excellent chin... And so did Casamanyor.
I think Casa takes this on skills, and being able to survive and hang when it gets rough, and when it visits the trenches.
Lockridge was a lot more skilled than Casamayor. held his own on the inside against Pedroza for a few rounds
Yeah, 30 or so. I'd take Lockridge by a close UD. Rocky might have been a bit small for 130, but Casamayor isn't the type to exploit a size advantage.
Glad to see Rocky getting his credit here. I think he had enough pop and hustle to exploit Casa's habit of sleepwalking through the middle rounds.
Maybe short but not he was pretty muscular and also physically imposed him strength, he changed his style from Fw to JL.. At Fw he could bang but, was very fast and flashed his boxng ability/fast combos more,, also not known for having a good chin (yet) he was also :dead the **** out by Laporte there, but was on par in the skils dept with the super Boxer Pedroza. And over night he fell in love with his power(wonder if brutal ko over Uncler Roger changed him) but more likely he noticed is speed dimninished a little and relied on his power and aggerssiveness more,... He was more Puncher/mixed with some boxing at JL, and he also let fans now that he had an excellent chin.. Showing fans the Laporte ko was just one of thpse things in boxing where even very sturdy chins go when hit on the button..... You say he was small ,but i never saw anyone outmuscle himn or impose there size... It was the opposite. Only Chavez matched him shot shot and didnt back down.,, But then i dont remember the several Chavez bombs hurting him or having him in danger,.. Chavez could punch harder and was physically stonger than most JL out there. Funny how he even had tough guy Tony Lopez getting on his toes and playing boxer.
