I wonder what our good ol boy Presscot has to say about one of his favorite fighters being with GBP...... but finally the man will be fighting again in dec. its on fight news.
Casa deserves a big pay day or two to retire on. One thing about GBP they look out for great fighters that struggle with marketability. IE Winky/Marquez etc.. etc....
He's (kind of) back in the mix, but we're ANOTHER year ahead... This was all because of the WBC right? because they stripped him or something..:huh
That's exactly right. They stripped him for CONSIDERING a fight with Frietas. It was really messed up, and it's cost Casa a year and probably two fights at least. At his age, that is critical.
I really hope he doesn't move up. I favor him over most lightweights. At 140 I don't like his chances.
I'm not sure. His situation with the WBC was up in the air for awhile and I think he was hoping it would be resolved in his favor. He was scheduled to fight a guy in Panama on a Robert Duran promoted card, in late spring I think, but that bout fell through. Finally, he was made "interim champ" of the WBC and promised a shot at the Diaz/Morales winner. Also, I don't know if a tune up fight would have been worth the risk for Casa. Say he fights some nobody for no money and gets hurt in training or something. Then he's out of luck. I am not saying he shouldn't have fought a tune up; your question is valid. I just see why he wouldn't want to risk it. Asterion, who is that scary looking dude in your avatar?
Thanks for the info about Casamayor, Motor City Sam :thumbsup A writer, Julio Cortazar. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Julio_Cort%C3%A1zar
I'm glad for Casa the past year has been tough for him nobody wants to fight him they see a high risk low gain all his 3 losses has been very close I hope Oscar could put him in the mix of Barrera,Pac,Marquez.
Good for Casamayor, he was getting screwed left and right and just got tired of it, a boxer's goal is to make money, specially at his age, and GBP will supply him with good chances for that.
