Two undersized middles, one a speedy slickster, one the very definition of a one-shot power artist. 10 rounds. Archer handled some brutal punchers in Carter and Tiger, while Jackson handled an immaculate boxer in Graham. How do you see this one playing out?

A surgical/artistic paint job by the mysterious Joey Archer. JJ wouldn't have had a clue...and there may have been a steady chorus of "boos" by the untutored and unenlightened in the crowd, but that wouldn't have affected the brilliant Archer in the slightest.

Archer was a much better boxer than Graham, Joey was smarter than Graham...he would have never have gotten caught being over confident and swinging from the rafters...especially after being miles ahead of JJ with the fight "in the bag".

Archer never lost by k.o. and beat puncher Jose Gonzalez by a wide margin in fight #2.

Joey Archer vs. Jose Monon Gonzalez (2nd meeting)
    (Redirected from Fight:52455)
1962-08-25 : Joey Archer 158¼ lbs beat Jose Gonzalez 158½ lbs by UD in round 10 of 10
"Joey Archer, NY middleweight, used side to side tactics Saturday night to win an avenging, unanimous 10 round decision over Jose Gonzalez of Puerto Rico in MSG. Gonzalez could barely see out of his right eye at the finish and Archer bled persistently from a cut on his left eyelid and brow suffered in the 2nd round. Gonzalez forced the fighting in every round with a persistent hooking attack to the body and head, but it was Archer who landed the harder blows. Joey buckled Jose's knees twice in the 3rd round with rights to the head. He hurt Gonzalez with three left hooks to the jaw in the 4th and slowed Gonzalez to a walk in the 5th with a left hook to the liver." -United Press International

I like Irish Joey Archer by decision but even with his iron chin would have to box carefully against the murderous punching Jackson. I seen Archer beat Hurricane Carter, Dick Tiger and I thought he beat Emile Grifith 1st time & 2nd.

Thanks, about time someone gave Joey Archer credit for his masterful boxing skills. He gives Julian a boxing lesson and even wobbles him a couple of times on the way to a wide decision win.
