    Who has seen it?

And how did you score it?

Joey Archer vs. Emile Griffith I: 145-141 Archer
    Griffith: 5,9,11,12 and 15.
    Archer: 1,2,3,4,6,7,8,10 and 13.
    Round 14 even.

Archer clearly seemed to outbox Griffith for me, but with that said the copy I own is silent, and so it's hard to judge the strength of the blows that are landing sometimes. Archer was a notoriously light hitter, so although he was landing quite a bit more than Emile, that might not be decisive in who was winning the rounds.

Cheers sweet and Bummy...I had a bit of a look of the rematch and Joey was giving Emile plenty of trouble. Archer was a superb boxer, Ive been checking him out more lately and pondering how he would have went against the best 154-160 fighters that have been around since he fought.

Have to sit down and watch the rematch in its entirety.

Joey was a classic boxer with a solid chin. He could box but would get real Irish and mix on occasion. Joey had Balls but remember he was on his toes a lot. He dropped Robinson ( an old version for sure) Joey also beat Tiger and Carter. I remember in the 60's they would do an interview on the TV News and this was for the middleweight title. Today they don't make such a fuss.

Archer finished very strong, but I'm not sure he did enough in the early/middle rounds to get the decision.

At the time I had Archer just squeaking past Griffith, but there are many subtleties that I may have missed, not having watched it from ringside. I do know that Griffith did win the rematch by a painfully close margin, and Archer was so disgusted with the verdict that he refused to shake hand with or to even speak to Griff after the bout, and that made Emile FURIOUS!!! He had a bit of a tantrum in the ring after that!

Second fight was very, very tight. Thought it could have gone either way, but I had Emile edging it. Disappointed that Archer called it a day after this fight.

Emile Griffith vs. Joey Archer II: 144-143 Griffith
    Archer: 1,4,5,10,11 and 15.
    Griffith: 2,6,7,8,9,12 and 14.
    Rounds 3 and 13 even.

Both fights are very close. No robbery at all. Emile were just lucky on the days and got the two close decisons. I have seen both fights several times, and they are very close.
