Just watched his bout with Florentino Fernandez. Giambra was a fine boxer and ring technician. He could sometimes be inconsistent but when he was on he looked like he could beat anybody he faced. Taking two out of three from Joey Giardello is nothing to sneeze at. How does he do with Tiger or Fullmer?

He had the style to outbox Tiger and Fullmer. Giardello took 2 out 4 from Tiger and drew with Fullmer in a fight most people including myself, felt he clearly won. The fights with Giardello and Giambra were all close. Based on that, I believe Giambra could outpoint Tiger and Fullmer.

Giambra reminded me somewhat of Tiger, but without the big punch. He had some difficulty with boxers (as his losses to Dykes, Bahama, and DeNucci showed) but he was a great inside technician/counterpuncher with quick hands and an iron chin. Personally, I would favor the bigger punching Tiger over him, but it's hard to assess how he would've done against Fullmer. Giambra supposedly looked very good against Bobo Olson, in which he lost a highly controversial decision; but I've read a number of reports that say he did just enough to fall short. If that's the case, that might not bode well for a match vs. Fullmer, whose stock and trade was making fights ugly and forcing opponents to fight.
