How many recall this solid middleweight contender of the 1950's? I always associate him with Joey Giardello because their names look so much alike and they were of the same era. I often wonder how he would have done against Robinson, Fullmer or Tiger had he gotten a title shot. He did fight Denny Moyer for the Jr. Middleweight title in 1962 but lost the decision. However 2 out of 3 wins against Giardello isn't too shabby on the record book.
I liked to watch Joey box. He was rated in the Top 10 by Ring Magazine from April 1953 to May 1963, a total of 77 months. He was rated as high as #3.
