2 of arguably the most skilled middleweights but I think Giardello was the more skilled and I have him winning on points. Thoughts?
Giardello beats him. If he's in shape, that is. Otherwise he wouldn't have the legs. Both are supremely skilled. Joey just has the style clash advantage to give James problems.
Joey as a middleweight much more seasoned - I remember James Toney as a middleweight good fighter at that weight- he became a better Cruiserweight but I remember Dave Tiberi beating his butt only to get robbed - Joey UD at 160
Toney was very hot and cold as a middle, Lost to Tiberi and Sosa, IMO, drew with Williams, but then beat Johnson, Nunn and McCallum. Joey had his share of losses, also. But I feel at his best at 160, he could hussle Toney. Toney's best 160 wins were pretty damn close.
Review...read up on and study about Carmine Tilelli aka Joey Giardello before you make a baseless, erroneous claim such as that.
I"ll be honest with you, Red, that's exactly what I need to do myself before making a prediction in this one. Haven't dedicated time to watching Giardello.
And you'll be just fine Jel...quickly incorporating what you learned into your already substantial, informed foundation of boxing knowledge,...but this guy, "the Blade 2", breezily sails in, reeking of Boxrec and "general forum cologne", counting the "0"s in their records, no doubt, and making slap dash, **** sure noobiesque pronouncements of the kind that he did....he has no idea of what he's talking about.
I have and stick to my prediction of Toney UD. Giardello would ge hit consistently hit with Toney's right hand.
Personally I see Giardello out working the off and on Toney. Both extremely skilled fighters, but Toney was much more likely to not be in shape and not focused. Giardello by dec.
I assume that the thread is about the best versions of both fighters. Otherwise, I see little sense in those fantasy matchups.
You must be the first person I have ever seen having Toney losing to Sosa.I recoommend that you review such fight. The commentators had Toney winning quite comfortably. I think one judge had it for Sosa but he was simply off in my opinion
