Just got done watching some YouTube videos of these two fighting and I have to say, these guys were as evenly matched as any two guys I can think of that fought 4 times. Both guys were fighting to their strength with Tiger applying pressure and banging away and Joey always moving to his left jabbing and throwing that hard right hand when Tiger over committed.

No real point to this thread other than staring a conversation about these two exceptional fighters that were also excellent human beings outside of the ring by most accounts.

I have always been a fan of Tiger but lately I have taken an interest in watching Giardello. I'm going to watch some more of him later today and probably going to dive into his fight with Carter. I know he sued the makers of the Hurricane movie over his he was portrayed and won a decent settlement. In the movie, they showed him hanging on for dear life against Carter but from what I read he won the fight pretty cleanly. Looking forward to watching it.

Love these fights, big fan of both. And the Giardello-Carter fight was clear for Joey. Can't see how anyone would have it for Carter. Somewhere around 10-5, something like that.

Carter had some great moments early but Giardello pulled away. It’s a shame they embellished it like that but glad that he won a settlement.

Great fighter. As was Tiger. I have been meaning to re-watch some Tiger during this pandemic. Maybe I’ll start with these ones this weekend.

Giardello-Carter and Giardello-Tiger are both on my watch list. Planning to get to them really soon - once I do I'll feed back in this thread. Cheers

Just finished Giardello vs Carter and I agree with what has been posted. Clear cut decision win for Giardello. Carter did well early but Giardello really took over in the mid rounds.

I think I'll try to find his fights with Fullmer and Benton next. What a stacked era in the middleweight division! Giardello, Tiger, Fullmer, Benton and an older Sugar Ray. I'm really going to dive in to these fights this weekend.

Even the lower-rung middleweight contenders were really good and technically very learned then. You see a guy like Ralph Tiger Jones and you just know he could clean up nowadays.

The '60s middleweight division is so underrated and overlooked. I rarely hear it mentioned compared to, say, the '70s heavyweights...

Just watched Carter Vs. Benton and I agree, very good fight and close fight. Bummed that I couldn't find Benton vs Giardello on YouTube. Really wanted to watch that one.

I'm pretty sure there's not extensive footage of Giardello/Fullmer.

I was only able to find a three minute highlight video on youtube. Looks like it was a rough foul fest with Fullmer leading in with his head multiple times. Joey finally has enough and butts him back.
