    This caused me to look up something just for info.

    There were 7 heavyweight championship fights in the 20th century in which a white fighter defeated a black fighter. 5 were by Rocky Marciano. The others? Willard over Johnson. Johansson over Patterson in their first fight.

    Total record in lineal championship fights of white fighters versus black fighters in the 20th century--

    7 wins, 66 defeats

    Yes he did...JM was a no-nonsense competitor...even vs the only guy who ever stopped him, the infamous Curtis "Hatchet Man" Sheppard. After being stopped early in his career by Sheppard, Joey rematched and decisioned him just a few weeks later. Maxim was an underrated defensive great,...like another guy I've been known to go to bat for:naughty2:
