    Could Maxim beat Willard in a 25 rounder ?
    Joey takes on the fighting cowboy while he's still champ ,let's say ,1918.Who takes it ?

    I think he was almost certainly shot by that point. He hadn't had a fight since 1916 (where he was pretty out of shape), and his next fight was the 1919 massacre.

    I think you really ought to make it the Willard of the Johnson fight, since that's when he peaked, and we have footage and an actual fight to go on.

    Not the best match up for Maxim...if anything, the match would showcase Joey's chin and durability and not much else.

    That's a fair enough comment ves.
    If it's the 1918 version of Willard I'll go with Maxim taking a point s win over him .
    The Johnson fight Willard ,I see him trailing after around 12 round but gradually getting the fight swinging his way .It goes the full 25 and it's so close .I'll predict Willard by the tightest of margins
