Maxim did fight at heavyweight on occasion and did get himself up to the mid 180s, and does have the style to trouble Quarry, decent boxing at range and was tricky defensively, definitely wouldn’t give Quarry opportunities to showcase his best strength, which is counter-punching, but would Maxim be able to do enough? Quarry, if you stuck a versatile jab on him, kind of became clueless and couldn’t bypass it, he was great when guys would go at him trying to take him out with knockout punches and committing and leaving themselves there to be countered, Maxim was the polar opposite to that. Who wins this matchup?
I agree with everything you said about the stylistic matchup. Quarry was certainly at his best against bangers that would be over aggressive and get caught with his counter left hook. Maxim was not that type of guy but with that said, I think Quarry's natural size, strength and power would be a huge obstacle for Maxim to overcome. Maxim had a great chin but I just think he wouldn't be able to hold Quarry off who could fight aggressively even though he was a natural counter puncher. I think Joey has some moments with his rapid fire jab but ultimately gets beat up by the larger/stronger Quarry.
