Heard I while back that Joey Williams ( former South Sydney , Panthers , Bulldogs half ) was taking up boxing . Apparently been doing a bit of work with Johhny Lewis and campaigning at Junior-Middleweight .

Anyone know any news on how he is coming along , I was a fan of his in the NRL , and he is a decent bloke ( I've met him a few times) , so I hope he does well .

Think he is fighting this weekend at The Croatian Club

No amateur fight's his old man was fighter think he might be in for a shock i hope not but you just can't come into this sport an think it's easy all the best to JOEY good footballer, also another footballer MICK OSTINI turning pro to on that fight nite i think, The former rooster's second rower, MICK'S the head of N.S.W P.C.Y.C BOXING at least MICK had a dozen all so amateur bout's

I watched Mick Ostini have his first bout in 2006 at wagga pcyc with a gym mate of mine, about 5Foot 11 and nowhere near the athlete that mick was.
    Anyways,Ostini got beaten up.
He may have improved alot since, and i think good on him for having a crack but i just couldnt see him beating anyone except a blown up cabbie

Once again, good on him for having a go and im sure he has improved in the last dozen odd fights, What i was thinking is that a guy who is deadset green behind the ears in 2006 is not ready for a pro career in 2008, Know what im sayin?

I dont get Joe Williams.1game he was on fire the next hes a dud.

Strange career..I was playing for Nsw under 16's side and Joe was in the 18's and at the pre games dinner every1 was talking him up saying hes this that and everything and unfortunetly you could tell he belived it...

But hey he was only 18 so cant be too critical on him now...

Personally dont know why he doesnt head overseas.Plenty of cash in League and Union over there..But goodluck to him if he thinks boxing can be a new career.

Just hope he aint doing it thinking he is going to make easy cash through his profile.

He looked pretty good last night -- particularly considering it was his first fight. Didn't expect him to be a southpaw though...

I watched him play a few times for my school and jersey flegg, he certainly had the skill but i dont think he was a great trainer, i remember him playing against great britain (schoolboys) scoring a 90m try out of absolutely nothing. He did tend to go walkabouts a bit though.
