:D Touche. It's true that we all live in mud huts and beat each other with large sticks to pass the time but that makes us middle class compared to Scotland.

I like this analysis of Olivares and Jofre. Even though he was much older than Ruben he still had more of that winners mentality, only 2 close decision losses to Harada.

Alan Rudkin's your dad isn't he mate? He was class, how d'you think he'd have gone on against Jofre? I'll understand if you don't take an impartial stance :yep

Alright mate, might sound a bit impartial or partial but who knows. When my dad beat Caldwell for the British title in March 65 he was one of the top contenders for Jofres title. Harada beat him to it. If it's true that jofre was having weight problems and the fight was in England he might of had a chance. It might of been a bit early in my dads career for someone like Jofre. My dad has told me he was a bit green in the Harada fight, that he could of took it to Harada earlier on but he was worried about doing 15 rounds. As it happened it was no problem for him. After the experience of the Harada fight he was probably a lot better fighter for it but then he lost a very contraversial fight to Walter McGowan, most people called it a robbery, which froze him out of the picture at a time when he was probably at his peak 66 to 68. Jofre was a great fighter, maybe Harada just had that style to upset him I'd like to think that my old fella could of competed with Jofre during those years.

Cheers for that pal, wonderful insight. The McGowan fight WAS a bad decision if I remember rightly; it's cruel that your dad didn't get the right breaks as a result. I think he would have been a threat to Jofre, though I would have favoured Eder on first thought. No disgrace though.

i thought id just chip in

Rudkin held his own with 2 of the best bantamweights ever in Rose and Harada so hes on that level. he did get stopped by Olivares later on not sure if it was past prime or not

I think Jofre would beat him but Rudkin wouldnt embarass himself hed win some rounds and put up a good fight but lose a decision i think Jofre is the step above and has a good style to beat Rudkin.

Saying that i only favout one bantam over Jofre and thats Olivares
