I'm not sure if this one has been done before . Who would you pick in a 15 rounder for the 118 lb title? I would go with Jofre with the slicker boxing and the power.

Judging from what I learned , I'm leaning towards Jofre. Olivares hit hard, but you aren't KOing Jofre

I watch both fight live and in my opinion Jofre wins by late round KO in a 15 round fight

The Olivares that took the title from Rose was amazing. the precision and power were there...but at that moment in time Olivares' footwork was outstanding. That Olivares would have beaten Jofre IMO...But...certainly not going to argue with this man's viewpoint. Jofre was incredible, and much more consistent...

I'm not sure Jofre was the 'slicker' of the two.

He was more refined, consistent and less prone to getting dropped. Both fighters were well rounded, although Olivares wasn't consistently evasive on the back foot and, whilst still able to work, was not quite as dynamic as he was in wrecking ball mode. Jofre was just all-round solid and less likely to look erratic. His body punching will take the edge off of Olivares' dynamism IMO. The tidier technical types did cause Ruben problems, and Jofre is more in the vein of a Herrera or Castillo than he is a Sakurai or Rose. He's not looking to box Olivares, to beat him you need to be smart and punch with him. Jofre can counter like Herrera and Chucho, can fight on the inside well, has the jab to contend with Ruben, has more power than Castillo or Herrera, even more durable etc etc etc

Even if the very best and well prepared Olivares showed up I think Jofre can do the better work down the stretch. Early on the Mexican will likely have Jofre in some trouble. He was a slow starter, felt his opponents shots out for a few rounds, and I think of how Ruben moved up the gears against Rose and how Aoki and Harada were able to let fly against him early, Harada especially had him stunned in the 4th round of their first bout. But Jofre had a tight guard and could get off the ropes well, so I think he'll come through the rough patches he'd be in.

Olivares will likely get on the move and try and walk Jofre into something at some point and it'd be amazing to see Jofre cutting the ring off and trying to get off first.

Jofre via decision in an incredible fight. S

Eder wasn´t really too fast ( I mean, not exactly one of the fastest ever) but I would say he the faster man here.....I liked what Flea said,

Would be a brilliant fight. I just go with the more consistent fighter, during the course of a fight, not just in terms of career path.

Jofre was the greater bantamweight, featherweight (arguably) and greater fighter, and more skilled. Seems harsh to say that when a fighter as great as Olivares is being discussed, but Jofre is on the tier just above Olivares.

Both are ATGs of the very highest order. There's just a slight edge in career and skillset IMO. In a fight between the two, that slight edge would serve the Brazilian well when it came to the scorecards.

I'm actually unfamiliar with these guys beyond basic knowledge of their careers.

Somebody give me some fights to watch so I can answer this question ;).

There is only one bantamweight I have actually seen fight live that I think was better then Jofre at the 118 pound class, and that was Manuel Ortiz.

Go on to the 'Educate me on Jofre' thread and click on Vic-JofreBRASIL's link to his article on the British forum about Jofre. Quite a bit of decent footage and a very good piece in general. If you dig about Google vids you'll probably find footage of his fight against Gianni Zuddas mixed in with some of the documentary stuff. Vic has a snippet on youtube of the Jofre-Aoki fight too.

I don't think I've ever been more jealous of someone in my entire existence. Did you see Olivares against Rudkin?....

Yes I did....Rudkin was out of his class against Ruben, he was down 2 or 3 times in the first couple of rounds
