The French Pastry Chef who turned Wilder into Gargoyle and went a solid 11 rounds with him vs. The Greatest, who you got?
In reality, Duhaupas is not much worse than the likes of Jean Pierre Coopmen, Richard Dunn and even ol'Chuck Wepner, who all challenged Ali for the Hwt title in the 70s.
If Duhaupas were more active possibly. Wepner was fighting 4-5 times a year and had fought better competition before he got his title shot against Ali. Duhaupas averages about 2-3 fights a year and isn't in as good of shape as Wepner was. Duhaupas also has no clinch or inside game to survive as long as Wepner did.
True. I'm just saying that Ali in the 70s wasn't above fighting guys who were more or less on the level of Duhaupas. Not that I would have given Johann much chance of winning.
The French pastry chef has feet of cement and no defence. Ali could jab him to submission blindfolded. That he nearly stopped Windmill is hilarious.
