You are invited to attend an online event titled "Two Boxers...Two Lives" on Sunday, March 13 at 11 am EST: Johann Trollmann and Garbis Zakaryan are two individuals who never met and yet share a common passion for the sport of boxing. Trollmann, a Sinti, died in a German concentration camp toward the end of World War II. Zakaryan, a Turkish citizen of Armenian descent died a hero's death, wrapped in the flag of Turkey two years ago. What did these two boxers share beside their love of boxing? How did their minority status affect the direction of their lives? Was their resistance and rebellion manifested in the way they approached their profession? We will try to answer these questions and more by listening to Turkish author Emina Temel and American author Jud Nirenberg. Please join us as they present their own perspectives in exploring the lives of two individuals who left their mark in the boxing ring in different times and places, with the faint echo of similar fighting spirits. See the link above to sign up to view this lecture/discussion. Or you also can RSVP (by Tuesday, March 1) and/or send any questions you may have to NIM's Events & Outreach coordinator Gina Leow at
