European battle .Can the Ingos Bingo put out Primo s lights ? Or does Carnera use his advantages to in height ,reach and weight to score a win ?
An upright, dodgy chinned man ,with only average or below power ,proven vulnerable to right hands, versus a real right hand puncher.I don't think this requires much thought.Ingo by stoppage.
I can see this as Carnera v Baer all over again. With multiple kds .Whilst Johansson ain't the greatest to come out of Europe ,he did have that lovely Right hand that caused a lot of heavy s grief. Primo may try to fend off , jab him ,tie him up ,its only a matter of time before the Swede cracks him .I'd be surprised to see it go 10 .
Could go either way to be honest. Carnera would box Johansen's ears off, but Johansen might be able to get through with that big right hand, and start something that he could finish!
A pretty confident vote for Ingo. Carnera's chances of survival aren't great and if he gets to the final bell I see him being a shade short on the scorecards. Take into account you might find a couple of 10-8 rounds for Ingo, it's hard to envisage him not having his arms raised at the end of the fight.
Ingo lines Carnera up time and time again for that same old atomic right hand, and consistently lands it until the bout is mercifully called off after a probable several knockdowns. Carnera wasn't particularly durable and Ingo was a legitimate top tier banger. Seemingly a pretty easy fight to call.
I know there is a current wave of Primo love and revisionism but this is the easiest pick ever, Ingo by brutal KO in a few rounds. Cooper, Machen, Erskine, Patterson were excellent boxers, Ten Hoff was big...Carnera has nothing to offer but his courage.
