The Ref could have worked a possible Duran vs Ray Lampkin "Rematch", if it had occured.

The ref was reading a text before the fight got going, and when he looked up, Machen was being murdered in the corner.

Honestly I much prefer this to early stoppages. That being said, ref should've stopped it when he was crouched with his guard down, or at least started a count

 

Ali had several of his "overmatched" opponents in obvious trouble in fights, and usually backed off.
