Watching the build up to the Calzaghe fight, Buncey and Mcguigan both spoke of their admiration for John Conteh. I have to admit whilst i have heard of him before ive never seen any of his fights but for guys like Buncey and Mcguigan to say that he could have been the greatest British fighter of all time says to me that he must have been a bit special. They way they went on i assume he liked his booze and burds.
Yeh liked the booze and partying/women and having a good time. He was world champion.. He was also from Kirkby....
Fast and stylish with a sharp punch. Apparently a slightly vulnerable chin and towards the end of his career couldn't throw the right hand with any force due to injury. There's a few fights of his on youtube.
