Play it safe Continuing to fight club fighter untill the dust settles between Pavlik and Taylor. Then fight Pavlik in big money fight at the Gerden. Or take a chance and fight other top rated guy like Giovanni Lorenzo, Sergio Mora or Sebastian Sylvester to earn a number one ranking and the respect of the boxing public before going after Pavlik
Fightin' me is not exactly "playing it safe" cuz I'll whoop him and he'll lose to any "top-rated" foe just like he did Old Man Compas (helluva fight, tho) so he'll never get a #1 ranking. Duddy is nothing but lunch meat.
I'm a big Duddy fan but I think he should stick to the Euro circuit and try to go for a Sturm or Sylvester fight. I haven't completely given up on him being a champ and I'd like to see if Turner can mold him into an elite fighter. That being said, even if he comes up short in a title bid once or thrice I still be a fan as he comes to fight and respects the sport. However, I do think his career just got extended by several fights because JT is exercising the rematch clause against Pavlik, John should send a gift basket to the Taylor family.
thing is he is not big enough to be a super middlewieght he is around world class and is unbeaten. he cant travel to any other wieght he can only fight at middlewieght. if he is going to fight a titlist hope that taylor wions becuase taylor can be dropped and duddy as brawly as he is can punch. so i would fight ex champions experienced club fighters... fighters people will know about.
I would only like him to take dangerous fights(that isn't a fight against the real middleweight champion) if they have another meaning , by which I mean I'd be okay with him fighting Sylvester(European) or Sturm(WBA) as if he won he'd gain something that he wouldn't get from another dangerous fight against other highly rated middleweights .
Anyone who goes life and death with Old Man Campos should fight tomato cans for as much as possible and for as long as he possibly can because as soon as he gets clearly exposed by a real world class fighter he is gonna become a stepping stone with a very short career span. His defense is such ass I can't believe there are people out there who actually expect anything to ever become of him.
The heart is everything. The fact that Duddy can punch , has heart, and always comes in fit, gives him a chance. But more of a build up is desirable!:smoke
I think Duddy should take on Sergio Mora both need to prove themselves and with Duddy big Irish and Mora big following from the contender series they would sell out the Garden and get lots of press. Plus sence there both very highly it could be a box off a number one ranking. Also Raul Marquez would be a good opponent for Duddy, He is highly ranked, a former champ and shopworn. If Duddy beats those two name but beatable opponents and Pavilk beats Taylor again by med 2008 the world will ready for Pavlik vs Duddy I would stay away from Giovanni Lorenzo he is much too powerful and dangerous.:deal
