I thought that when the match was made..... Gethin can bang a bit but he's nothing special Anthony Crolla, Lee McAllister and a host of other up and comers would moider him. IMO.

Yep. Gethin does little to impress but seems to know how to get a win. This will look good on his record and give him confidence. He should get a few more good match ups on the back of this. Crolla and McAllister should be on the list of opponents.

Fewkes killed himself to try and make the weight. He had absolutely nothing in the tank. Even at 25% in the first two rounds, he was far too good for Gethin. I take absolutely nothing away from Gethin - he is a proper pro. But all he had to do was wait for the inevitable and let matters take their course.

Plus, as said, his head was gone. Couldn't win the title whatever happened and his trainer since he was 11 so pissed off that he wouldn't go in the corner.

Don't know where you get this 'zero substance' from. Don't judge him on last night. He was a complete shell - hopefully he'll learn from this.

I watched this fight, Fewkes was...well Fewked after only 2 rounds. He looked very very weak. Gethin was lucky got find Fewkes like this last night.

Lets hope he sorts himself out and comes back proper.

Ok admittedly the zero substance statement is a harsh one. But I stand by the fact that for all his posing he's not anywhere near as good as he thinks he is. I was mildly impressed with his Craig Watson win, especially with how Watson has bounced back so positively however until Fewkes adds a bit of grit, determination and wow factor to his game he's not going beyond 8 round level.

was there something about his usual trainer not being there as well?

i guess he'll have to come back as a LWW where he'll probably get the chance to fight khan

He has been lucky that Fewkes was **** and Siddique was, is and always will be ****. Good fights for him to get through but I doubt he can go much firther with out serious improvement.

I take your general point about the moves and the messing about...but, as you say, if he's beaten Watson (now a champion two weights above) one would think this indicates he does have a 12-round future.

I think your all being a bit harsh on Gethin here, dont get me wrong I'm not saying he would've beat Fewkes if his head was right, maybe he would've maybe not but he is one of those fighters who especially in the early rounds doesn't really impress much, he's a slow starter and is not a spectacular fighter, but he's excellent at getting the job done. Give him his kudos for that.
